It takes a great deal of courage to reach out to another human being to ask for help. As a psychotherapist, I believe that the traumas we incur over our lifetimes and in relationships with our families, lovers, friends, co-workers, and employers can be healed in part through the therapeutic relationship. Life is our journey and it shapes, is shaped by, and is interpreted by us.

As a therapist for 25+ years, I believe a strong therapeutic relationship and trust are key factors in the foundation and process of healing.
YOU CANNOT DIRECT THE WIND BUT YOU CAN ADJUST THE SAILS –Dolly Parton Life is like a river. It can flow smoothly and peacefully and other times rough and rocky with unexpected turbulence or obstacles crossing our path, making us unstable, vulnerable, and scared. Are you struggling with anxiety, stress, depression, chronic illness or pain? Do you feel “stuck” in unhealthy behavior patterns? Suffer from a work/life balance, a breakdown in communication or conflict in relationships? Are you going through or have been divorced, mid-life or retirement transition, or coping with loss?

Many people experience stress due to the pressure to succeed, financial concerns, health concerns, and the demands of maintaining work-life balance. It's important for people to find ways to manage stress and prioritize self-care in order to navigate these challenges effectively.

I believe that an empathic counseling relationship in which your worth is recognized and validated, where your strengths are emphasized, and resiliencies explored, can lead you to greater enjoyment of your life and better connections to those around you.
My passion is helping adults, particularly those over age 50, who are having difficulty with depression and anxiety, marital and family concerns, retirement, grief and loss, as well as worry about their health and finances. I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker with over fifty years of experience assisting individuals and groups find their strength to live a healthier, more fulfilled quality of life. For much of that time, those efforts were with the MA Department of Mental Health. It has also been with Catholic Charities, the VA, and most recently as a Franklin based outpatient clinician.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
