I have over eight years of experience providing individual and group therapy treatment for people experiencing mental health and substance use disorders.
It is not easy to start therapy treatment. An ideal client is a person that, even through all the fears, doubts and questions, takes the first step to start treatment and gives a chance to explore a new technique to find better balance in their life. There could be setbacks in the process but the most important thing is to stay constant. The client is willing to work in their goals and implement skills learned in every session. Also, to ask questions needed, even if they feel afraid, in order to be able to communicate with their therapist in a honest way.

I strive to illuminate the path to sustained wellness for my clients, unraveling the intricate web of addiction and planting the seeds that give life meaning and abundance.
I work with clients (individuals, couples and families) who experience relationship, self-esteem, or work related issues due to substance use such as alcohol, marijuana, or other drugs. Clients are ready to understand the underlying causes of substance use, identify triggers, coping skills and relapse prevention plans. Recovery is an ongoing process, and my role is to help others understand themselves and actualize their potential. I want clients to understanding that support is available to assist in their time of need and beyond.

My ideal client is a young adult who is working on getting their life together. They are having a difficult time controlling their emotions and suffers with anxiety. Their goals are to get and keep a job, work on a career, and be more responsible. They are realizing that it is time to get it together. They are interested in learning coping skills and working on past traumatic events that they believe to be in the way of learning new ways. I will work with my clients to unfold what is brought into the room and set the pace that feels most supportive to them—together, creating a safe and supportive space as we address needs and goals.

My ideal client would be new to therapy, though motivated to change. I am aware of the challenges that come with seeking therapy and want to be a support to those who are hesitant with the process. Ideally, I would like a client who is self-aware, receptive to feedback, and willing to hold themselves accountable.

Sometimes it can feel like we have too many thoughts in our head. "Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life." " Negative Thoughts can never give you a positive life..." It's very difficult at this time to be in a positive space and I know that we can all feel like this right now. I work to help you be "your healthy" and reach "your goals" in your journey in life. I focus on helping you reach your personal growth and healing. I want to help you achieve what changes and life solutions you want to make while providing a safe, caring and soothing therapeutic environment.

Therapy can at times be intense and difficult, but I believe that persevering through the discomfort is part of what allows us to tap into our inner strength and resilience. I don’t believe in telling people what they should do, rather I see myself as a supportive guide giving people the space they need to find the solutions that fit them best. I enjoy working with people who are motivated, willing to try new things, and willing to be a little vulnerable.

Addiction Therapists

What is the best therapy for addiction?

Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.

How long does therapy for addiction take?

There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.

How effective is drug addiction treatment?

Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.

How can you get addiction treatment for someone?

The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason,“interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
