I offer an opportunity to improve your sense of self, worth, and relationship.
Hi. If you're here, you may be at a crossroads. Entering therapy really is an act of courage and commitment. Asking yourself, What do I want from this process?, How do we improve our relationship? Am I ready to grow? The answers to these questions can provide direction toward the changes you want in your life. Please note, therapy can be challenging. Looking at past experiences, addressing old feelings, and altering patterns of relating in the here and now, is not easy work. However, the outcome of this hard work can be healing and life altering. I've helped many navigate this complex terrain and I believe I can support you as well.

The focus of my nearly 30 years in practice is to assist people who find themselves in common yet challenging transitions in their lives. These difficult "phase of life" transitions are often accompanied by painful adjustment experiences including relationship issues, confusion with one's role, interests, or even personal or work identity, difficulty making decisions or taking action, challenges with feeling productive and making a contribution, and finding peace in one's overall experience of life.

I see therapy as a safe relationship between client/therapist and a path to self-awareness, love, and acceptance.
Accepting new clients for fall 2024. I am a licensed counselor who provides therapy to individuals, couples, and families. I have over 25 years experience with a range of issues concerning relationships, anxiety, life transitions, dating, stress, infidelity, betrayal trauma, sexuality, school admissions, LGBTQ issues, co-dependency, divorce, elder issues, work, and education. I provide a safe place to share concerns, develop coping strategies, and to discover inner resources that we may not have known were there. The "Goodness of Fit" between client and therapist, and the treatment modality is important to initiate results.

I help couples interrupt these patterns and develop the new relationship skills to enhance communication, sexual expression and empathy needed for deep intimacy.
I specialize in working with couples who are experiencing difficulties. No partnership is without disappointments, confusion, and an experience of minor or major betrayals. Yet these predictable challenges invite us to broaden our capacity for understanding and enter new depths of intimacy as we repair and heal. As a marriage and family therapist with a focus on sexuality I believe that no matter what the difficulty, we can reshape our relationships to have the kind of deep connections we yearn for. I help couples strengthen relationship skills and develop tools to end negative patterns and establish deep intimacy.

My approach enables the client and therapist to establish a hope based, healing relationship.
With over 20 years of experience in the field of helping others, I have learned that making a genuine connection with people is the best way in which to begin the work of therapy. One of the most important skills I have to offer is to carefully and compassionately listen to what you have to say. We then go from there; when you are ready, we begin to look at how to change.

I feel strongly that a kind, trusting, compassionate relationship is the catalyst for healing.
I specialize in working with women and older adolescent girls in individual therapy, who are experiencing or interested in working on any of the following: Life Transitions, Stress, Anxiety, Depression, Loss, Parenting, Relationship Issues, Emotional Fulfillment and Finding Spirituality on The Journey To Emotional Healing. I am an active psychodynamic clinician, who utilizes object relations theory, family systems theory and cognitive behavioral techniques. Above all, I value the therapist client relationship. Just as a grain of sand emerges as a pearl, I view life as a transformative experience. The pain of what we are faced with provides opportunity for growth.

If you yearn for a more fulfilling relationship, greater self-esteem, healing from the past, or a more enjoyable and purposeful life, it means you’re paying attention. There’s always room for growth. Perhaps you aspire to improve one aspect of your life or several areas. Maybe you feel discouraged and lost because you’ve worked hard to make things better and haven’t seen a difference, or you’re newly aware of the need for a shift in life and this is your first try; either is okay. Successful change doesn’t have to start with self-confidence or a plan. It just requires the willingness to reach out and not take the journey alone.

Therapy that is effective needs to include a great deal of trust between client and therapist to allow this process to happen and direct communication is key to establishing this type of working relationship.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Emotion-Focused Brief Therapy both often help clients to reach their goals in times of a crisis or major life transition. Working collaboratively, we make sense of complex situations, create new ways forward, and develop new narratives. Sessions are tailored around helping my clients achieve their goals in measurable ways by finding solutions to problems that are challenging and creating obstacles to living a life that is meaningful to them.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
