I believe the therapeutic relationship fosters an engagement in a process of growth, change and freedom for a more meaningful life.
I practice psychodynamic psychotherapy and have worked with adults affected by persistent mental illness, young adults who received political asylum in the U.S. as survivors of torture and individuals and couples managing life challenges and transitions. I earned a Masters degree in Social Work from Loyola University Chicago and completed post- graduate training at the Institute for Clinical Social Work. I bring prior professional experience as a teacher who worked closely with undergraduate students on finding their own voice.

Therefore, I am also skilled in working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, issues around sexuality and sexual orientation, family stress, academic concerns, as well as personal growth and exploration.
I consider it a great privilege to hear people’s stories and struggles. With my outside perspective and training, we can create a therapy that will shed light on patterns in your life that you would like to change, help make sense of how they came to be, and create a plan to address them head on. I take an active role in therapy by asking thought provoking questions and offering my observations and feedback, which promotes movement towards lasting change.

My experience centers on working with adults on presenting issues like mood disorders, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma, and anger management.
Summer 2024 - Accepting New Clients! Whether managing short-term or long-term stress, I value making a space for clients to take a moment to stop, step back from what they're doing and take a look from the outside. In a comfortable space with a supportive therapeutic relationship, clients can best understand themselves and disentangle challenges of daily life. I believe in helping clients identify what defines them as an individual, and how to best fulfill the things in life that are important to them. I also value awareness of identities relating to culture, ethnicity, gender and sex, and how they affect clients' values and goals.

I received my Masters in Social Work from Boston College in 1995. I specialize in helping clients who present with depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, and environmental stressors. I work with clients who are LGBTQ+, straight, or cisgender. I strive to provide a safe environment in which clients can explore problematic areas which inhibit personal growth, work toward creating either change or acceptance regarding feelings, thoughts, and behaviors, and to identify patterns that are no longer useful. I derive deep fulfillment as a therapist, and consider it a privilege to be a trusted participant on one's journey.

If you find yourself worrying all the time, if your relationship isn't going the way you imagined, if you're struggling on your fertility journey, or if you're a new mom feeling really bad, know you're not alone.
Offering ONLINE sessions. It’s hard to be a woman! We feel like all the pressure is on us. We keep trying so hard to do it perfectly, but life still isn’t going the way we planned. We have the pressure of career, fertility, parenting, romantic relationships, time for a social life. There's all of that and then we notice the past we’ve been running from creeping up on us. It can be exhausting, not to mention overwhelming. And is anyone talking about how hard getting pregnant can be? It's supposed to just happen easily, but month after month the pregnancy tests keep coming back negative. It feels like our bodies are failing us.

BEST way to reach me is EMAIL. I believe emotional healing happens in a therapeutic relationship. I offer relation-oriented, emotion-focused psychotherapy to clients who are interested in relieving symptoms, identifying patterns, resolving conflicts, building satisfying relationships, finding fulfillment in life, etc. My work is trauma-informed due to my passion for trauma treatment, especially that of developmental trauma, and an understanding that traumatic experience is existentially inevitable in human life. I also enjoy helping young professionals, first-time parents, and new immigrants navigate challenging life situations.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
