Are you feeling overwhelmed in your daily life, have difficulty shutting your brain off, or find yourself worrying about almost anything? Counseling may be the right step for you. Counseling is a collaborative effort between you and me to help identify the thoughts that interfere with your life in a negative way. With work, you can gain better control over unhelpful thoughts. Everyone has the ability to change, my job is to guide and support you through the process. I believe in creating a safe and judgement free experience for you to explore what you want to change and what gets in the way.

Have you been in talk therapy and it has NOT worked? Do you want to let go of shame, depression, and guilt? I am looking for people who want to change. The human body is energy. By living life, all kinds of experiences happen. Some of these are negative and traumatic. These occurrences get stuck in your energy field and affect you psychologically. Working with me you will remember memories, and incidents ( you thought you forgot), and together we weave the holes in your energy field and remove the blocks in your energy that are preventing growth and flow.

I consider my overall approach to be a feminist relational one, I also use elements of cognitive, somatic, and psychodynamic approaches.
We all have the power to heal from hard times - even from trauma - it's within us, it's human. Sometimes we need another person to support us in our journey to move on from hard times. I believe growth and change are always possible outcomes. I provide thoughtful attention and gentle encouragement to support hope, healing, and most importantly, a relationship with yourself that is loving. My goal is to help you increase self-awareness, self-compassion, and self agency - skills that help you understand yourself and your unique value in the world.

Welcome. I work primarily with women of all ages, throughout the lifespan, helping them to be their best selves, finding strengths and answers to create the life they desire. My style is interactive and eclectic, meaning my tool box is deep to allow various approaches to meet you where you are. The client sets the pace and timeframe. Sometimes we work together a short time, other times for longer periods. I have many clients who return for short "tune ups" as life challenges arise.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
