As a clinician, I adopt a non bias stance coupled with person-centered approach through creative interventions such as art therapy, music therapy, play therapy, etc.
Growing up, I promised myself I would live up to the meaning of my name, light. I figured the best way I could achieve this goal is by simply guiding others to find the light within themselves and/or pertaining to their situation. My goal is to help alleviate emotional burden and improve mental health. I have experience working with individuals who struggle with addiction, mental disorders, trauma, and major stressors. I invite anyone to be welcomed into a safe space where they are the experts in their life.

My ideal client would seek therapy for their issues with processing trauma and acknowledging poor coping skills (such as addictions or low participation in life) used in the past to manage symptoms. They would want to use a cognitive behavioral approach to identify their cognitive distortions and negative thinking patterns and bring awareness and change to their behaviors.

Sometimes, there is an empty place or challenges that won't let you go. Sometimes the negativity in your head is louder than your resilient voice. I work with clients facing many changes or challenges including educational, relationship issues, financial stress, parenting, care giving, trauma, chronic health issues, bereavement and recovery.

I provide online and in-person services in Jungian analysis and in-person Oregon state licensed psilocybin facilitation. People arrive at Jungian analysis for a variety of reasons, a life difficulty, crossroads, challenges with human relationships, curiosity around dreams and creativity, or a hunger to learn and explore Jungian topics. Jungian work is about reclaiming one's narrative, through integration of unconscious and conscious aspects of the self. This work can help a person feel more balanced and whole (the Jungian concept of individuation) or 'living life to one's truest state'.

I provide support and guidance to those who struggle with emotional distress leading to difficulties identifying and managing emotions. This can be the result of untreated anxieties, low self-esteem resulting in body image issues and challenges around food. If you have experienced a significant decline in your quality of life and want to set goals, process and heal from your traumas, I have found that providing a stable and consistent therapeutic relationship is at the foundation of that healing.

You've sought me out for counseling because you experience a significant discrepancy in your life between how you feel and how you'd like to feel. You're seeking to have positive mental health, that is, to know yourself, to be yourself, to expand your capacity to care for yourself and others and your world, to maintain humility, and to maintain hope. You're aware of the fluctuating nature of your functionality: at times you function well, and at other times you don't function as well as you'd like to. You're aware that, at times, you have experienced distress, that is, difficult life moments. You're ready to create a better life.

Music Therapy

How does music therapy work?

A music therapist will begin by assessing the client’s specific needs and getting a sense of their musical ability and interests. Musical training is not required, and clients of all ages can benefit from this type of therapy. The therapist will then make a plan for how to achieve the client’s therapeutic goal(s) using a range of receptive (e.g., listening to a song) and active (e.g., drumming in a group) music therapy techniques.

What are some common music therapy techniques?

Music therapy usually involves listening to music (either live or recorded). Music therapy clients may also make music on popular instruments, such as the piano, guitar, and hand drum, or sing. Sometimes music therapy can include guided imagery. A music therapist may ask clients to improvise on the spot or even compose their own songs. Dancing or moving to music can be an effective intervention to help clients feel more fully grounded in their bodies and remain in the present moment.

How does music therapy help with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)?

Music therapy can be a valuable creative outlet for clients with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) who have trouble putting their painful feelings into words. Listening to music can be relaxing while making music as part of a group provides plenty of opportunities to connect with other people. In addition to its mood-boosting effects, music therapy can help clients build resilience and overcome PTSD symptoms that may interfere with their daily lives.

How long does music therapy take?

Music therapy sessions generally last between 30 and 50 minutes. They can be scheduled in advance (for example, once a week) or can be done on an as-needed basis. Some clients will only require a handful of music therapy sessions to achieve their goals, while others may need months or longer, depending on their specific concern.
