I specialize in supporting those who are experiencing the unique, profound grief related to pregnancy loss (miscarriage, still birth, termination due to fetal anomaly, and early infant death). Additionally, I work with children in families who are impacted by perinatal loss through play therapy, and by helping parents to create a developmentally appropriate narrative for them.

We all have the need for connection. At the same time, there are many factors that make it hard for us to openly share parts of ourselves with others. We may find ourselves in a bind of wanting to be close with people in our life, yet feel like it is not okay to express certain feelings. We may even tell ourselves that being vulnerable is weak. Taken altogether, we may inadvertently get in our own way while we are trying to protect ourselves. These dynamics can have costs in our relationships, work, and ability to enjoy life – costs that sometimes we recognize and sometimes others in our life may point out.

It is often difficult to be one's unique human self. How wonderful you have the courage to propel hope for deep and lasting change for your emotional struggles. Adults in individual and couples therapy deserve to experience loving relationships, and freedom from anxiety, depression, trauma, ADD, and one's idiomatic patterns of difficulty. When your strengths come to the fore, problems loosen their hold, creating the possibilities of you consistently being lovingly in charge of your own life. When your inner life is enriched, you increase possibilities for more abundance. Your private education becomes a great overall investment.

The poet David Whyte writes, "Let my history then be a gate unfastened to a new life and not a barrier to my becoming. Let me find the ghosts and histories and barely imagined future of this world, and let me now have the innocence to grow just as well in shadow or light." Coming to therapy can help release you from the confining narratives of your history and help you discover a future you might not have previously imagined. I will work with you to hear from your pain and how that pain might be speaking to you.

I see therapy as a unique opportunity to try out new ways of relating: with more honesty, more curiosity, more courage. I work with adults, couples, adolescents, and families of all ages and configurations who are seeking greater joy, ease, and satisfaction in their lives and relationships. The search for a therapist may begin with a crisis or trauma, or might be a step in a more gradual process of self-searching and growth. Whatever brings you to this moment, you are likely hoping to feel different in some way than you do today.

Welcome! It's wonderful that you are considering therapy, and I am here to help. I believe we are capable of far more than we realize. I think of myself as a guide to self-discovery and self-realization. Through couples and individual therapy I have successfully helped people significantly improve their relationships, decrease conflict, depression, anxiety, and self-destructive patterns. Working together I have also helped people enhance their self-esteem, communication, boundaries, and helped people work through loss, trauma, school and career difficulties.

Waitlist for new clients
This includes working with women around issues that arise related to motherhood and supporting new parents in addressing: parenting challenges, issues left from one’s own upbringing, sorting out role issues with one's partner and clarifying life balance decisions.
In working together I will encourage you to find your own "clear voice" by connecting with your values, sorting out conflicts, and developing new skills. Most importantly, our work involves connecting to your own inner strength. My clients describe me as an astute listener who provides them with a warm and grounded place in which to expand understanding and to learn new and practical approaches. Therapeutic work we do together will often result in your improved ability to "unstick" stuck relationships, get unblocked and communicate more effectively, as well as making meaningful decisions that fit for you.

Is anxiety or depression preventing you from living a more fulfilling life? Are you feeling overwhelmed by a major transition? Are you unable to move on from an upsetting or traumatic past experience? I help patients change patterns of behavior that are no longer working, and learn new and more effective ways of coping and engaging with life. I believe that embedded in the painful crises that usually bring individuals and couples to therapy, there are also opportunities for self understanding and mastery that can be discovered and realized in a safe healing relationship.

Are you looking for a therapist who understands the challenges of navigating several cultures? I work with multicultural individuals, couples, and families. In relationships, cultural differences often come up in the ways we disagree or express anger, in our expectations around dating, and in what we find normal or not when raising kids. Navigating these challenges alone can feel discouraging and like no one really understands, but a culturally competent psychologist can help.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
