I use CBT/DBT/ACT approaches for individuals (thoughts, emotions, behaviors, skills, acceptance, mindfulness); a Development Model for couples therapy (connections, healthy differentiation); SPACE for parents with children/teens with anxiety/OCD (reducing accommodations), and FBT for parents with teens with eating disorders (family-based therapy).
In addition to my faculty and hospital-based roles, in my private practice I see children, teens, adults, couples, and families. I am licensed in Massachusetts, New York, and British Columbia. Harvard Medical School trained, I deliver evidence-based approaches and treat a range of psychiatric diagnoses using a bio-psycho-social model. I welcome all backgrounds and strive for culturally responsive and attuned care. My interventions also include mindfulness and focus on reducing distress and improving relationships, all delivered with warmth, humor, and science.

My approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).
I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, trauma, eating disorders, and OCD, as well as couples navigating relationship challenges. I am a certified yoga therapist, and often infuse this background into sessions to help clients (both individuals and couples) befriend their body and regulate their nervous system. Most importantly, however, we focus on building trust and connection, and then personalize the therapy based on what will best serve your goals. By making space for humor, celebrating victories, and adding joy-giving behaviors to daily life, I strive to make therapy something you'll look forward to.

My approach is collaborative and grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an evidence-based therapy incorporating mindfulness and perspective-taking.
Life’s challenges are inevitable. I aim to help each client navigate these difficulties through a shift in their relationship with unpleasant thoughts and feelings. As the saying goes, "You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf." As a therapist, I bring kindness, curiosity, and humor. Clients who have benefited most from working with me are inquisitive, and open to trying new exercises in therapy.

Working within a safe therapeutic space, my clients learn to manage their symptoms, shed guilt and shame, and practice self-acceptance and self-advocacy so they can move forward in life with peace and strength.

I work with adults and couples who struggle with depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, and relationship problems among other issues. My approach draws from a variety of disciplines including cognitive and behavioral therapy, psychodynamic, internal family systems, and acceptance and commitment therapy.

I am a cognitive behavioral psychologist specializing in anxiety, OCD, perfectionism, obsessive-compulsive personality disorder, and self-worth. My clients tend to be high functioning in some domains (e.g., professionally) while suffering greatly in others (e.g., relationships, sense of self, mood). I work with individuals with a deep-seated desire to excel and maintain a sense of order and control, which often veers into rigid patterns of thinking, behaving, and interacting with the world and themselves. I help my clients integrate their high-functioning capabilities with a greater sense of flexibility, balance, and openness.

My therapeutic approach is rooted in cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness and acceptance-based behavioral interventions.
Experiencing emotional pain, worry about the future, and feeling stuck are common human conditions. Through therapy you can find new ways to change and relate differently to your feelings, thoughts, and actions. It is possible to live the life you’d like to live, and our work together can bring you closer to that reality. I provide a warm, supportive, collaborative and non-judgmental space where it is possible not only to reduce mental health symptomatology, but also to enhance the quality of your life through engagement in valued living. I offer both structured, time-limited treatment, and more exploratory, supportive work.

I practice integrative psychotherapy and use cognitive and behavioral interventions (DBT, CBT, ACT) as well as insight oriented and trauma informed therapy.
Currently, accepting referrals for Adult DBT group starting on Sep 12th 2024. I see psychotherapy as a safe place where healing and change are fostered. I help patients to be able to gain awareness of their own thoughts, feelings and behaviors so they are able to change aspects of themselves that are holding them back from having a self-fulfilling life. I believe that everybody has the capacity to change and live a life worth living. The therapeutic relationship is central. I provide a warm, caring, nonjudgemental and compassionate environment that helps clients to feel supported while working on their goals.

I am a couples and individual therapist that works from a psychodynamic/relational lens, while also incorporating IFS, Humanistic and ACT.
My goal as a clinician is to provide safety and assurance as you navigate the journey of emotional healing. I encourage you to bring your whole self into the room - the parts you’re proud of, and the parts you prefer to ignore. There is no need to "have it all figured out." All I ask is that you remain open and curious to the known and unknown parts of yourself. Through this process, you will begin to better understand yourself and live a life worth living.

For my work with individuals, I use psychodynamic and narrative therapies as well as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
I love helping clients who feel stuck with anxiety, depression, or trauma become “unstuck.” In my therapy space, I strive to create a supportive environment for people to explore their emotions – and the experiences that shaped those emotions. With individuals, couples, and families, I work collaboratively to understand how previous dynamics, especially with families of origin, contribute to their current thoughts and coping skills. When clients understand how their past relationships influence their current selves, they are better able to build new futures, with greater self-acceptance, growth, new skills, and overall happiness.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists

How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?

The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?

Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?

A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
