I am a partner at Leek Therapy. A mentor of mine once described therapy as "two people getting to know one person." I think this in many ways encapsulates my understanding of how I hope to work with people. By helping people "meet themselves" with compassion and understanding, people can then make informed decisions about how they want to move forward. I strive to support clients in identifying their desires and values and to move towards living a life aligned with those values. I utilize Narrative Therapy, Dialectic Behavior Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy as well as Psychodynamic techniques to work alongside clients.

I explore unconscious processes and early life experiences in psychodynamic therapy to foster deep self-awareness and healing.
I am a partner at Leek Therapy. I'm so glad you're here. Life can be messy, and that’s perfectly okay—you don’t have to navigate it alone. My focus is on building a genuine connection with you, where you feel truly comfortable sharing your thoughts and feelings. I have had the privilege of working extensively with individuals across the lifespan in community mental health settings, as well as specialized work with Division I athletes at Boston College, where I provided tailored support to navigate the unique challenges they face.

I use a strength-based approach to therapy, integrating psychodynamic and mindfulness perspectives.
People typically come to see me when they feel anxious, depressed, stressed out, or stuck. I work with clients to help them be more compassionate with themselves, so that they can develop a sense of curiosity and acceptance toward their experiences. As people become curious about why they feel and act the way they do, they are able to see their situation in a new light, and can come up with new solutions.

Before entering private practice with Leek Therapy, my primary work focused on community mental health, complex trauma, and social justice. Working in non-profit organizations and residential programs, I developed a relational therapeutic approach that values trauma-informed and culturally responsive interventions. My work with adolescents, young adults, and families is grounded in the belief that all individuals deserve access to mental health care that feels safe, collaborative, and inclusive.

Life is tough at best, traumatic at worst. People let us down or we let ourselves down. We may repeat patterns that once seemed to work for us, but are now impeding our growth. Often we know what we "should" do to feel better, but can't seem to actualize our intentions. Or we become so overwhelmed with messages that we have to fix ourselves that over time our resolve weakens and we feel stuck, frustrated, and helpless. It can feel uncomfortable to ask for help when we're struggling, but we are not wired to walk this life alone; we all need a safe space where we can share our hurts, disappointments, and losses.

You smile and say “I’m fine” but it's not true. You don’t necessarily know what’s wrong so sometimes you even convince yourself you're OK. You feel overwhelmed trying to balance your responsibilities and meet the expectations of everyone around you. You feel depressed and anxious. You’ve learned to cope by scrolling on your phone and self-medicating. You want to learn healthier coping skills. You want to talk to someone who only has YOU in mind. You hear people talk about going to therapy and you think it‘s a good idea but you don’t know where to start. Seeking help, whether for yourself or your teen, can be an exhausting task.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
