I offer expressive arts therapy and clinical mental health counseling.
The ideal client is motivated to continue to work with their inner child to become grounded in the present moment. They may have anxiety, mood disorders, or personality disorders, or they may not be sure what is underlying their experience, which I can help identify as well. The ideal clients are open to trying new methods of healing, including arts and spirituality. They are willing to trust me with their feelings and express them, whether that is verbally, through the expressive arts, or both.

Together we can explore parts work, mindfulness, yoga, expressive arts, and more.
Have you been feeling stuck and unsure of how to heal? Maybe you notice you freeze up a lot, feel uncomfortable in your own body, or that you get caught in regular shame spirals. You might be realizing that how you used to get through doesn’t work for you anymore. Dealing with past trauma and PTSD, or just the trauma of living in the world, has left you feeling trapped and wanting something better. Better, would be feeling more at home in yourself, moving through the world with confidence and ease.

I believe in the power of creativity as a therapeutic tool and am specially trained in expressive arts therapy.
I’m a firm believer that you don’t need to wait until things get really bad to start therapy. If you're a college student, young adult, or professional dealing with anxiety, depression, gender and sexual identity, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or relationship issues, you're not alone! I take a warm, collaborative approach to identify and resolve patterns that keep you feeling stuck. The foundation of my work is an identity-affirming approach that positions you as the expert of your own experience. I am also specially trained in couples therapy and work with clients in traditional and non-traditional relationship styles.

Specifically, I am interested in mindfulness, self-compassion, psychodynamic therapy, expressive arts therapy, system theories, hypnosis, cognitive-behavioral modalities (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy.
You feel trapped in thinking again and again about the same issue? You feel as you can’t take a breath, lost your sleep and criticize everything you do? Does this all make you feel as you are not good enough; you should please others to be liked; you are failing as a partner, parent or a friend? Would you like to create space for yourself where you can discover your unique life journey? Collaboratively, we can create a safe space to help you feel your feelings; build awareness; understand relationship patterns; and develop strategies to cope at home, work and in society.

In conjunction with traditional psychotherapeutic frameworks (CBT, DBT, Gestalt, Psychodynamic), I use Expressive Arts Therapy (Movement, Drama, Music/Sound, Art) to help foster a creative process.
The therapy session is a time and space one sets aside to focus on self. To be with self. And to build one’s self. It can be challenging to reflect on patterns, thoughts and emotions, relationships, past events and/or change, but it can also be transformative and rewarding. My role as your therapist is to witness your process and to reflect back with you along the way. The therapeutic relationship is an essential piece of my practice and is built on honesty, trust, empathy, and compassion.

I hold a dual Masters in Expressive Arts Therapy and Mental Health Counseling which allows space for innovative and creative alternative to talk therapy.
Struggling with life transitions, creative ruts, and relationships are difficult in any situation but especially so if you do not follow the heteronormative path. It can be difficult to open up to someone when you are not certain that they understand Queer and Alternative relationship structures. I use an individualized approach with each client to build a therapeutic relationship based on specific goals. I focus my work around issues regarding LGBTQ+, sexuality, non-binary and transgender, complex relationships, power dynamics, sexual health, BDSM/Kink, and other dynamics.

In addition to talk therapy, I use a unique blend of expressive arts and EMDR which targets your body.
Hey Sis! As a Black therapist to high-achieving executive women of color in both corporate and entertainment, I feel you juggling roles as a boss, wife, mom, caregiver, wearing all those hats with the S on your chest and superwoman cape on. I know you're tired and that's ok! You may feel stretched thin and the weight of responsibilities burdensome. Trying to be everything to everybody is hard and highly unrealistic. There's a need for a new paradigm shift and the shift starts with you. Let's shift towards healthier boundaries, greater clarity in purpose, work and life harmony, peace inside, pure joy, healing, and ultimate FREEDOM.

Expressive Arts Therapists

What happens in expressive arts therapy?

In an expressive arts therapy session, the therapist will provide the space and materials necessary to encourage the client to express themselves creatively. These can include art supplies, musical instruments, a journal, a camera, and more. The therapist offers careful guidance throughout the creative process, often noticing and talking about psychological issues as they arise. Many clients also benefit from the mind-body connection—the physical act of making art can help them feel more grounded and present.

How long does expressive arts therapy take?

An expressive arts therapy session will typically last between 50 minutes and an hour. Group sessions may run longer. Sometimes, a client might only need one or two sessions of expressive arts therapy in conjunction with talk therapy to resolve a psychological issue. Others might find a fixed number of sessions over the course of either weeks or months to be beneficial. The duration depends on the client and their individual needs and goals for therapy.

How does expressive arts therapy help children?

Creativity is an important part of normal child development. Expressive arts therapy proves a safe outlet for child clients to learn to identify their emotions and express them in healthy ways. In expressive arts therapy, children can build their self-esteem, discover more about their personality and strengths, and feel a sense of normalcy in an otherwise chaotic world. This therapeutic approach can be particularly helpful for children with developmental disabilities, autism, ADHD, speech impairments, and other conditions.

What are the limitations of expressive arts therapy?

Sometimes individuals have physical limitations that can affect their ability to express themselves artistically in certain mediums. For example, someone with hearing problems might find it difficult to make music. Sickness and mobility issues can make some types of art physically inaccessible (e.g., sculpting, dancing, etc.). Sometimes, clients are overly skeptical and have trouble letting go and engaging with the creative process. Individuals who require a higher level of care may be better served with other types of therapy.
