I believe that everyone has strength that comes from within, but people sometimes do not have fully-tuned skills to access their inner strength. Therapy is an opportunity to explore past events and patterns that have created self-defeating behaviors and identify skills to change inner narratives.

Hello! I work with people who are introspective, who perhaps know in their head what would help but it doesn’t always pan out or change how they feel. I strive to support people I work with to feel more peace in their lives, more alignment with what they want, and more confidence when facing tough decisions. I work with people from all walks of life, predominantly 18-30 year olds who want to untangle personal patterns and relationship dynamics to gain a deeper understanding of themselves. I deeply respect the unique lives of the individuals I work with, and I love to witness their progress toward their goals.

In a busy, overwhelming, too-much world we all need to find ways to care for ourselves. Reaching out for therapy can be a way to carve out some space to nourish and connect to yourself. Maybe you're here because you feel overwhelmed and anxious. You know you have deep wisdom inside but the overwhelm is making it hard to access it. Perhaps there is self-judgment for feeling “too sensitive”. You’re doing big things yet you still feel small. You long to feel calm, centered, and connected. My grounded, intuitive, and collaborative approach can help!

As a trauma-informed, attachment-based therapist, I’m not interested in fixing you. I am interested in simply getting to know you. That’s it. Of course, we will be working together on YOU. But our relationship will be the center of the work. I ask that you show up each session as yourself, as much as you can that day, and we will take it from there. If showing up as yourself sounds scary, I totally understand. I will always work to show up as myself, too. You can expect me to tell you about my cat, or the coffee place I’ve tried recently, or to talk about whatever book I am reading. My goal is for therapy to be a conversation.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
