I take a comprehensive approach to helping my clients feel better. For many people, therapy is episodic. We arrive at therapy when we need to overcome a momentary setback, learn or re-learn how to manage negative feelings, work through paralyzing indecision, manage grief, and clarify our goals, among other reasons. I believe in supporting clients in finding their own inner guide, coping skills, community resources, and social supports so that their path to feeling better is in their own hands. I particularly enjoy helping couples better understand and communicate around feelings and behaviors.

Good therapy should result in real life changes, not just increased self-awareness in the therapy office. People are seeking understanding, and guidance. My best work comes when there is mutual respect and an openness to learning. Everyone feels better when they find out they are not 'crazy' and there is an explanation for what they are feeling and thinking. I tend to be active in my work, because people come because they want feedback, not silence. My style is eclectic, meaning I will use many techniques to reach the goal, and the challenge will extend past my office door.

I've been a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC), and a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) for almost twenty years. I work with individuals, couples, and families out of the basement office of my home in Arlington, MA. My most basic therapeutic approach is that everyone is born good and whole. But, life happens and it sends us difficulties that we can’t always understand or handle. These difficulties can happen as children, adolescents, adults, in school, home, work, and in our marriages. Sometimes these problematic life experiences can affect our core beliefs negatively and/or overwhelm our abilities to cope.

There is meaning behind your behavior. The ways in which we interact with the world provide clues to what we are experiencing internally. It may be incredibly challenging to articulate precisely what is bothering you, but I'm confident we can work together to increase insight and understanding in a meaningful way. I specialize in adolescents and young adults and am happy to discuss the possibility of working together. UPDATE: Welcome Mango to the treatment team (see photos)! Mango is an adorable Havanese therapy puppy in training. She attends in-office sessions 2 days a week.

Welcome to my practice! My hope is you can find a safe place here. All are welcome - none are judged. In my work, I most often support LGBTQ+ and transgender folks, as well as people navigating eating disorders and/or struggles with body image. I also do a lot of ADHD and trauma work. I'm affirming of all sexual, gender, and body identities and presentations. I'm very experienced working with polyamory and ethical non-monogamy and am a sex and kink-positive therapist. In my work around eating, bodies, and body image, I work from a Health at Every Size framework, support fat liberation, and believe all bodies are good bodies.

Memories from the past flash across your mind – bits and pieces of the worst thing that ever happened to you. You find yourself thinking about all the things you wish you could have done differently and playing out all of the "coulda, shoulda, wouldas". You're feeling constantly on edge, people tell you you're a control freak, and you just can't seem to ever let your guard down. It's exhausting and you're fed up with feeling this way. You're willing to put in the work to feel better - if you only just knew where to start or how to make yourself feel better. You need help, but just don't know how to start.

Major life transitions can leave you feeling unsure of who you are or how to move forward. Decisions that once seemed black or white can become muddled. Constantly being reminded of the past may make it seem impossible to navigate your present. It might be unclear if you're on the brink of real change or caught in the same old patterns. It's easy to feel lost and alone if you don't have anyone who can really understand and empathize with your situation.

If you have not been feeling like yourself or that your mind has been elsewhere Let’s talk. Everyone needs a judgment free space where they can express themselves freely and discuss struggles and the things that are most important to them. Whether you are dealing with overwhelming feelings of worry, daily stress, a transition in life or intrusive memories from long ago you deserve to have support.

I believe good psychotherapy can simultaneously alleviate distress while also cultivating joy, creativity, and fulfillment for oneself and others. My approach to therapy helps people remain deeply connected to themselves in order to more skillfully navigate relationship challenges, life transitions, and other difficulties. Flexible and collaborative, my approach brings attention to the emotional, physical, spiritual, and cultural aspects of healing and growth. I work well with people who are looking for both support and challenge and people who are seeking more ease in the face of difficulty.
