Welcome to my psychoanalytic practice for children, adolescents, and adults. Our minds have a huge influence on how we think and feel each day; slowing down and noticing subtle aspects of ourselves with a trained analyst can provide much needed integration of powerful emotions that have not yet had a voice for expression. People can articulate emotions without feeling them, experience emotions in the body, can't find words, and unthinkingly go into action never quite feeling satisfied. Psychoanalytic work can involve the experience of play, and with kids, play will be the work. Integrating feelings and thoughts vitalizes human life.
You may experience emotional numbness, a feeling in your body without words, a burst of overwhelming emotions, even as a need to keep busy to stave off something that's uncomfortable or frightening. We'll explore and look closely at your dreams, wishes, and fears in relationships using our working relationship as a home base.
We'll notice how your experience of relationships is felt within this relationship, and my hope is that you'll talk about whatever comes to mind which will bring us to the heart of your concerns. Shame and guilt usually emerge, and we'll address your experiences with no judgment on my part even though you might have worries about how I'll understand you.
