I have worked the past 17 years in various mental health settings. Working with the chronic mentally ill, addicts, and suicidal clients, I have learned the importance of listening with compassion, and communicating effectively to reassure the individual is being heard. I’ve enjoyed working in community based mental health, which helped me develop the therapeutic skills necessary for the treatment of clients in crisis. It also allowed me to connect and interact with a large diverse population.
My approach is mostly Person Centered with some CBT, but I believe compassion is the most important attribute. Working with clients is collaborative, with a shared vision of achieving your therapeutic goals. I have enjoyed working with adults with depression, or who struggle with past traumas of racial identity.
