I am a psychotherapist specializing in individual treatment for people who have experienced physical, sexual and/or emotional abuse. These traumatic experiences make it difficult to feel safe in the world and create barriers to achieving rewarding intimate relationships and professional success. In my work with clients, I have two goals: to create a supportive space where the trauma and its impact can be explored; and to help each person develop better self-nurturing and coping skills so that they can overcome the fears, destructive behaviors and negative internal messages that prevent them from achieving their full potential.
For over twenty years I provided clinical supervision at the Crime Victims Treatment Center of St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital in New York City where I pioneered their program for male survivors of sexual violence. As a trauma specialist, I've treated over one thousand survivors of violent crimes.
I'm a very eclectic therapist. I don't espouse any particular method but I am very attuned to the connection between body, mind and spirit. My work is based on building a supportive and respectful relationship -- and sharing the excitement of discovering together the amazing strength and resourcefulness within each person.
