Instead of describing my ideal client, I'll disclose that I tend to be the ideal therapist for Type A personalities/ perfectionists. Those who have achieved great professional/ academic success are coming to see me because those trusted skills don't deliver the same success in other areas of life, often affecting their relationships and causing distress during the early postpartum period. Suppose you value direct communication, are willing to engage in therapy on the regular, and are ready to unlearn old stuff and the story about yourself. In that case, I think you should reach out so we can further discuss our availability.
My theory is that therapy should extend far beyond our 50 min. session. There will be a variety of "homework" to develop self-awareness (articles, books, podcasts). Most commonly, my clients are disconnected and are unsure of how to communicate their needs. I'm here to help discover the possible reasons why and more importantly, find their voice.
