For as long as I can remember, I have loved learning the stories of others & leaning in with curiosity about what could be possible for them, as well as what is right about them already. My ideal client is someone who values the complexity of the human experience, desires treatment that is compassionate as well as evidence-based, & is open-minded. My therapeutic style is warm, compassionate, & inclusive. Clients who are open to learning, goal-oriented, & seeking measurable success often align very well with my approach. Ideally, you will feel experience a strong sense of acceptance, affirmation, & empowerment under my care.
Psychological safety is very important to me; it takes time to develop the rapport and vulnerability needed for growth and healing in therapy, especially with my areas of expertise, trauma and anxiety-related disorders. I am EMDR trained, and formally skilled in other evidenced based areas for anxiety and trauma treatment such as Trauma-Focused CBT and CPT.
As a resiliency researcher, I believe adaptive responses to adversity are best viewed as developmental in nature. Reaching optimal wellness is not often immediate, but it is certainly possible when we can be fully open, honest, and vulnerable with another trusted, professionally trained, human being.
