Symptoms from trauma, feelings of depression, anxiety–all of this can be difficult to bear. In challenging times we may turn on ourselves, telling ourselves we should be coping better. Maybe you are neurodivergent or disabled and have been shamed for the ways you don't fit in. In our sessions I will attune to how you show up in session so I can best assist you in accessing your own ability to heal. I will do my best to help you feel safe and seen in our sessions, and then the rest of the work can begin.
I am trained in EMDR and use Internal Family Systems regularly. I aim to be flexible for my clients as each person shows up with their specific sensitivities. I believe social justice is inextricable from mental health. Our symptoms are often a valid response to living in an oppressive society.
I am a queer white cis-woman and try to sit humbly with the way power and privilege shapes my lens. If I have a blind spot in my understanding of my own privilege or how my client is showing up, I will educate myself. I encourage feedback and questions as I want to be the most useful to your process as possible.
