I connect well with some teens and most adults or couples. I find I work best with people who are invested in understanding why they feel as they do, or why they do what they do, and want a collaborative partner in exploring how to better manage the stressors in their life, whether internal or inter-relational. I have a background in anger management, which can often address problems of the underlying emotions, and help with communications skills. I tend to conceptualize from a psychodynamic perspective and educate my patients about these ideas when I think it will prove helpful.
Depending on the needs of the patient I work in different modalities. I am most effective in managing depression and anxiety, and supporting personal growth through greater self-awareness. I encourage developing better relationships through communication and empathy. I have also begun using EMDR for complex trauma, and am finding it extremely effective.
I am certified to take court mandated Anger Management students. I work one on one at this time. I spent many years working in Los Angeles in the entertainment industry, and have insight into the demands of the field.
