I approach therapy through 3 lenses; one that is empathetic, a curious learner, & one that is a facilitator of thought. The development of a team-like mentality is very important to the therapeutic relationship and growth. My clients are experts on their own lives, & I am here to learn & help you create awareness. Genuineness, trust, & openness is encouraged so that we may learn about ourselves, live a valued life, & grow to the best of our ability. My main areas of focus are Psychedelic/Ketamine Infusion Therapy Integration (Preparation and Processing Afterwards), Harm Reduction/Substance Misuse, Anxiety, ADHD, and Depression.

Therapy is an active process and I believe that each individual has the capacity to live their life in a different way. Through collaboration, we will consider your history and how that has built today's version of you. Creating an empathic, affirming, and non-judgmental space is a guiding principle in my approach to working with individuals and couples. I have pointed experience working alongside those navigating more difficult, transitional phases of their lives, such as grief, loss, trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, and relationship conflict.

Do you ever wonder if there's more to life than just surviving the day to day? Each day feels like a struggle, and you wonder if it will ever get better. You're a strong person, but you're realizing that the trauma you experienced in your childhood is catching up to you. You're triggered by little things that didn't bother you before, and the coping skills you've been using aren't working anymore. You're often so busy caring for everyone else that you forget to take care of your basic needs. You're wondering what plan the universe has for you, but you know there has to be something better than this.

To paraphrase artist and author Tori Press- I’m here to help hold your balloon until you feel ready to hold it again yourself. No one should have to navigate life's challenges alone (even superheroes have sidekicks). My approach to therapy is solution-focused, person-centered, and holistic. While evidence-based practices and theories have their merit, ultimately you are the expert on your own life. I aim to create a supportive and non-judgmental place where we can discuss your challenges, talk through the hard questions, and work collaboratively to find solutions.

Everyone deserves a judgement-free space to express themselves and be heard. My therapeutic style is empowering, participatory, person-centered, and trauma informed. I listen and ask thoughtful questions to encourage emotional awareness and help illuminate my client's goals, encouraging them to work at their own pace. I work from an anti-oppression lens, aware of the larger societal factors that contribute so much to stress, anxiety, and depression. If you are seeking an approachable therapist to work with that values your life experience, I may be a good fit.

Psychotherapy can be one of the most valuable life experiences a person can have. Yet finding the right therapist may seem like an overwhelming task. I believe that establishing trust in the therapeutic relationship is critical before any meaningful or lasting change can result from a particular "technique." It is important to feel confident in your therapist's competency, compassion and character in order to build a safe, trusting relationship in which growth and change can occur. I hope that the personal statements made by therapists in this directory will help you find a good match for your particular needs.

I view the counseling relationship as one in which you the client, and I, the counselor work together to develop goals that will help increase emotional well-being and improve your quality of life. I welcome clients of all backgrounds. I do not take insurance at this time and charge a rate of $80 per session. Sliding scale payment options are also available.

Since 2009, I have worked with college age and older adults to confront and manage struggles surrounding depression, anxiety, identity confusion, and trauma. All of our work is approached with the presumption that there is an intelligence within that ultimately knows what is best for you, but this wisdom is often concealed by overwhelming emotions, grief, toxic relationships, self-defeating behaviors and thought patterns. We work collaboratively often using dreams and creative projects to gain deeper understanding of the unconscious.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
