I have specialized in working with people who have experienced trauma for over 20 years. 'Trauma' means many things; exposures to assaults and injuries, as well as distress over relationships and and transitions. People with histories of either one-time event traumas, such as molestations, surguries and divorce, or multiple traumas, can have a very hard time developing a sound sense of themselves. Building this sense of self is at the core of treatment for people who have had very difficult
life challenges. Helping clients to build this solid internal base is my goal as a treating therapist.
I was a staff member of the UCLA Trauma Psychiatry Service for over 7 years. I worked with adults and children who experienced trauma. My treatment strategies are designed to work long term, with a focus on symptom relief, and self restructuring. I take an insight oriented, in depth approach.
My work is tailored to help people feel better about themselves and enter into a life changing process of self- reconstruction. My goal is that clients stop feeling as though they are at the mercy of internal and external forces, and to instead feel they can create meaningful lives.
