Hello, I am Lisa James, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Therapy, to me, is about having the courage to ask for support and insight. My desire is to help others gain awareness and healing so that they could live a more fulfilling and authentic life. When I'm not working, I am cycling, hiking, and adventuring outdoors and being with my kids. I am a certified EMDR therapist and have experience working with trauma, anxiety, depression, attachment issues, existential crises, grief, life, and relationship stressors. I utilize a variety of therapeutic tools and interventions to assist my unique clients.
My approach is relational. I believe building a strong therapeutic relationship is essential for you to feel safe and understood. I will meet you with empathy, curiosity and offer a non-judgmental and culturally sensitive space. I work from an Attachment and Psychodynamic theoretical approach.
I listen to my clients with genuine curiosity and care as well as create opportunities for personal exploration. I engage authentically and honestly as well as challenge my clients when needed. I encourage my clients to learn to connect with their physical bodies when disconnected and grow in their vulnerabilities.
