Life inevitably brings us painful feelings, thoughts, and experiences that we often respond to by trying to suppress, run away from, avoid, or numb ourselves. This may result in struggles such as addiction, anxiety, depression, self-harm, eating disorders, etc., and may cause us to lash out at our loved ones or act in ways we do not feel good about. My clinical approach is inspired by the concept that we cannot always “get rid of” painful parts of our lives or the things outside our control, but what we can do is work to develop a different relationship with them so that they come to have less influence or power over us day to day.
I strive to collaborate with and empower my clients to build a rich, full, and meaningful life that is worth living. I help individuals figure out what motivates them toward change, and clarify the steps and skills needed to facilitate that change. I enjoy working with adolescents and adults of all ages, and families and couples in addition to individuals.
Clients I work with appreciate my authenticity, humor, compassion, and my person-centered and nonjudgmental approach. I currently practice at the Menninger Clinic Outpatient Service in Bellaire and offer virtual and in-person sessions.
