I have experience in working with a variety of populations (i.e. those involved in the criminal justice system, incarcerated youth/adults, and those with chronic mental illness such as Depression, Anxiety, Schizoaffective Disorder); children/adolescents/families, outpatient substance abuse treatment, with veterans and active duty military. Experience as the Outreach, Deployment, Mobilization Program Manager-Germany 2000-2003. I have 2 children who are active duty; familiar with community resources; experience addressing core problems related to mood disorders, anxiety, behavioral problems in children/adolescents, and attention deficit disorders.
Helping those experiencing a difficult life event (i.e. grief, divorce, custody) that may lead to an increase in stress, relational problems and problems in daily functioning is my focus; providing help in the development of positive coping strategies to manage difficulties and providing a warm trusting environment is my goal.
As a doctor of ed. in counseling psychology I offer clinical supervision for ALC practitioners seeking to fulfill licensure requirements. I offer training opportunities (Mental Health First Aid, ethics workshops, Distressing Voices Simulation); I enjoy teaching at a local university as much as I enjoy helping others improve their quality of life.
