Working with adults, children, families, and couples, my experience of more than 30 years in both clinical and school psychology has helped to define my role as a therapist. My major areas of practice are anxiety, stress management, depression, parenting issues, relationship issues, marital issues and divorce management, ADHD in both adults and children, school-related issues and workplace issues. I attempt to empower clients to change self-defeating behavior patterns based on negative thinking and faulty learning experiences.
While I value flexibility in treatment based on patients' goals and needs, my experience has demonstrated the effectiveness of primarily focusing on cognitive- behavioral techniques, while drawing on other techniques when indicated. My approach is based on active collaboration with patients, however, I don't hesitate to provide direction when appropriate.
I see my role as a therapist as part teacher, part motivator, and part coach, in helping patients practice newly learned skills to solve problems and engage in behaviors aimed at increasing their happiness and fulfilling lifelong goals. I take great pleasure in motivating clients to pursue positive change.
