I have overcome specific challenges in my personal life; which is evidence of how I not only have the academic experience, but also the personal experience to assist you in becoming all we know you are meant to be! My primary client base has been working with Addictions, primarily with the LGBTQ communities. I also can assist clients with extensive Traumas integrate healing into what has been an all encompassing devastation of existence.
I have been working in the field of addictions for over 25 years and certified in addiction counseling. I am also a certified Ambassador with the Academy of Cognitive Behavior Therapy. I am experienced in Prolonged Exposure, a trauma focused therapy. I am also experienced with Seeking Safety, therapy focused on PTSD and substance abuse.
Finding a therapist who personally engages the experience of being Black within the "dominant culture" of the United States of America can be difficult. Most therapists are culturally sensitive and aware. The unique factor I bring to my practice is the Black experience. Indeed, even within that unique factor; there are multiple layers and experiences
