As a psychotherapist at Family Strategies, my practice is anchored in the science of counseling, with a deep focus on trauma recovery in many areas such as: PTSD, sexual abuse, religious trauma, OCD, ADHD, relational psychological abuse and anxiety and depression. Some of the modalities in which I am trained also integrate neuroscience such as Eye Movement, Desensitization and Reprocessing and Accelerated Resolution Therapy. After any traumatic event changes in the brain can occur sending us into a perpetual fight or flight mode. To heal we must involve modalities that rewire the brain. I'm thrilled to implement these and many more!
Client's often come into my office in a state of overwhelm. It can be frightening. Often, people do not know what to do when their deep emotions begin to outweigh their ability to control them. It is my honor and my goal to first, assist clients in reducing the intensity of these emotions and then assist them in learning how to regulate on their own.
Laurie knows it's important to be highly trained with advanced degrees and ongoing certifications to be of the utmost service to clients. She also knows degrees aren't much help if the client does not feel safe and at ease. Laurie knows the client/therapist relationship must be strong before any therapeutic changes can occur and she takes this seriously.
