My name is Lauren Alvarez and I am a Cuban American women living near downtown Raleigh. I earned my Masters in Counselor Education with a focus in Clinical Mental Health at ECU; finishing in December of 2013. In March of 2017, I became a fully Licensed Professional Counselor. I have worked in various settings from hospitals, child advocacy centers, domestic violence agencies and shelters, to agencies in community mental health. I have had positions including Advocate, Case Manager, Intensive In-Home Team Lead, Assessor, Outpatient Therapist, and Co-located School Therapist for the Spanish and English speaking populations.
I work with children, families, adults and LGBTQ+. My specialty areas include depression, anxiety, school/career dysfunctions, family dynamic issues, history of trauma including types of abuse, grief, substance use, and relationship issues. My approaches include cognitive behavioral, trauma focused, person centered, and structural family therapy, and others depending on the client's specific needs.
