I am an LMFT, mother of two, first generation college graduate, Senior Leader at a community-based MHO and coffee enthusiast. I was raised by a single mother and an army of strong Latinas, along with the opinions and judgments of a traditional Mexican household. I've had my share of generational trauma and the struggles that come with navigating a culture you are being measured against that clashes with the one you are being raised in. I am not new to being 'the first' and find that this has become somewhat of a superpower and motivating force in my life.
My experience is rooted in working with childhood trauma, attachment, depression, anxiety, grief (of a loved one, a transition, a diagnosis) and traumas of all shapes, sizes, and colors. Through personal and professional experience, I am also specialized with special needs families, as my favorite person in the world has an extra added sprinkle ASD.
My practice is centered around active reflection and empowerment, to put it simply. I believe insight is the key to choice, which provides empowerment and leads to growth. Although I prefer to work in the here and now, it's important to understand how the experiences of our pasts leave ripples, the parallel process. I invite you to be curious with me.
