Being a part of the military can add a complicated layer to life and especially to family life. Not only does the military bring its own culture and obligations, it also brings its own "family" component that can get "tangled" when interwoven. Often times service members and partners find themselves struggling to balance family life with work and military life and when life is out of balance a multitude of issues can arise such as depression and anxiety, not to mention coping with any added stress such as combat experiences or other trauma within or out of the military.
I specialize in therapy for service members (both current and prior) and their families. Often times service members and family struggle with similar issues as civilians such as: anxiety, depression, substance abuse, PTSD, marital discord, relational dissatisfaction, lack of motivation, etc. except military service can complicate matters further.
Being part of a military family has allowed me the privilege of gaining inside understanding and perspective of just how challenging military service can be and the impact it can have on the service member and the family.
