I have a PhD in Marriage & Family Therapy and am licensed as an LPC and LMFT. I have experience working with all ages, and with a wide variety of presenting complaints. I am interested in clients who are ready to see the changes in their lives they have envisioned.

My name is TaLisia Williams and I am the owner of A New Beginning Counseling Services, LLC. I started my practice in 2018. I understand the help that is needed to assist others while going through difficult times. I work with clients of different ages and backgrounds. My experience includes working in inpatient treatment facilities on the addiction unit, as well as IOP and PHP. I have worked with juvenile delinquents in group homes. I have also worked in the court systems in which I provided group counseling through adult drug court.

Hope & Healing Counseling is located inside the Williamsburg Office Center at 2020 E 70th Street, Suite 301, in Shreveport, LA. We provide counseling for children, adolescents, and adults in individual, family, and group settings to treat various mental health concerns, trauma, grief, domestic violence, abuse, addictions, and more. We also provide educational and awareness trainings for caregivers and professionals. Additionally, we offer teletherapy/online counseling services.

My goal is to develop a safe place where you are able to identify your values, strengths, coping skills, and positive worth as a person to help tackle your challenges and stressors with confidence. In my practice, these clients learn skills to cope and manage obstacles as they occur and a decrease in depression and anxiety symptoms. Based in Louisiana, I am also licensed to practice in New Hampshire, Texas, and New Jersey. We also offer supervision for PLPC's in Louisiana.

The poet William Ernest Henley (1849-1903) penned the words : "I am the master of my fate: the captain of my soul." The message that Henley was so eloquently trying to convey is, that while we may face challenges in our lives, we should not let them defeat us! The fact is, life comes with rewards and defeats. Just as we have actions within us that respond to rewards, we also have actions within us to face defeats and the ability to learn how to rebuild, restore, and renew ourselves. One of the ways of renewing, sustaining, and rebuilding ourselves is through therapy.

I am a nationally certified counselor passionate about helping couples, families, and individuals heal and develop skills to cultivate growth in body, mind, and spirit. It is my desire to identify and apply the best suited evidence-based therapeutic practices to help clients move beyond what they are dealing with, to realize their full potential and inner strength. It is my belief each therapeutic session represents steps in a journey both the client and I are on in an effort to obtain self-care and well-being. My ultimate goal in this journey is to assist clients to overcome by building hope, recovery, and resilience.

Over the past decade, I have served in various roles, including child protection specialist for the state and a licensed social worker within the education system. My expertise extends to navigating Bulletin 1508, 504 plans, and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Specializing in supporting children, adolescents, and families, I address challenges such as learning disabilities, ADHD, anger outbursts, depression, relationship issues, academic concerns, and anxiety.

Our lives are shaped by the different events we experience. Those events have great influence on our decision making process. Some of those influences may negatively impact relationships. This is true with couples, friends, family and even ourselves. We experience issues with conflict, grief, trauma, etc. and try to deal with them the best way we know how. It is a misconception that people are weak or have no faith when seeking professional help. I believe that seeking help from a therapist is a sign of strength. It is one of the bravest things a person can do.

The counseling relationship is built on trust. What I hear most from my clients is that I am real. I want my clients to know that I genuinely care about them. I consider it an honor that they are willing to share their lives with me. I practice acceptance with no judgment, while at the same time pushing for healthy change. My belief is that there is always hope.

Working with people of all ages find solutions to life's challenges is my specialty. I typically work with individuals, couples, and families with transition issues, communication, parenting, trauma and women's issues. My Narrative and Collaborative strengths-based therapy approach and EMDR training guide my conversations with people. I have also lived abroad for many years so this has helped me understand the challenges of cross-cultural issues. For my LPC & LMFT colleagues in private practice or providing supervision, I offer consultation services to support personal and professional growth.

My ideal client is one that recognizes he or she has issues that need to be addressed through counseling and are ready to take the challenge of identifying those issues and tackle them head on.
