I have additional training in using EMDR for attachment wounds and complex childhood trauma, as well as chronic pain, single event trauma, and grief.
I have experience working with clients from various backgrounds, presenting with multiple different mental health concerns. I have the most experience and training in working with survivors of trauma. Many of my clients have suffered unbearable loss, abuse, neglect, and traumatic experiences outside of their control. They need help in identifying and regaining control over their symptoms that stem from the trauma they have endured. They need a safe relationship in which they are able to reprocess the events and reactions to the hardest things they have experienced. They want to not feel trapped in their traumatic memory.

It works by identifying, processing, and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, Depending on the individual, a client can completely heal an issue in a very short amount of time.

I also offer other counseling modalities such as parts work, talk therapy, visual meditation, inner child work, play & art therapy techniques in order to help you heal trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, & the difficulties of life in general.

Throughout my career as a psychologist, what I've found most effective in releasing painful thoughts and feelings (and even physical pain) is Image Transformation Therapy (ImTT) - a breakthrough in psychological treatment.
Accepting new clients - - Experiencing PTSD, narcissistic abuse, overall anxiety, sadness, and chronic pain can impact your ability to function mentally and physically. My goal is to help you feel better as soon as possible by empowering you through honest and direct feedback. Together we can facilitate your ability to overcome whatever challenges you are facing, learn how to set firm and appropriate boundaries, and create a successful way of being with yourself and others.

I do not consider situational anxiety or depression a mental illness, and no longer practice medical model therapy.
As a depth psychologically oriented consultant, I know personally and professionally that a Soul-Centric approach to life may become necessary when we experience challenges to identity, self-esteem and productivity due to something beyond our control. Events such as a challenging diagnosis, chronic illness, death of loved ones or even something like retirement or ecoanxiety can cause us to feel disoriented. Soul-Centric is a metaphor I use to describe the holistic work necessary in reorienting to a new way of being with self and others.

Restoring the lightness of being. I am an energy healer. We are a body of light - mind body and spirit. Events in life leave a memory of emotions in our cells and organs that affect the physical and emotional body. As a consequence pain, disease, depression, hopelessness, anxiety, fears, etc come to the surface.

Therapy is a process of self-discovery more than it is anything else. It is a space to set your goals on your terms. It is a space where your whole self can be present, seen, and valued. It is not a space for anyone's values but your own. My role is to be a tourist you show around and asks questions. In this space you can unpack, explore, and repack your entire life in a way that feels true to who you are. It is to help shift focus away from who you are supposed to be, and focus on who you are. It is a truly wonderous, painful, joyful, tear filled, and extremely rewarding process to go through. Enjoy the journey with or without me.

Chronic Pain Therapists

How does chronic pain therapy work?

Engaging with a psychotherapist to help treat chronic pain does not mean that one’s pain is all in their head. Therapy for chronic-pain patients has been shown to benefit both the mind and the body, targeting physical symptoms and increasing daily functioning. In other words, for many, addressing their emotional health through therapy affects their physical health. A therapist can help a client challenge unhelpful thoughts about pain and develop new ways to respond to it, such as distraction or calming breathing techniques. Studies have found that therapy can be as effective as surgery for certain cases of chronic pain and many doctors recommend trying psychotherapy in advance of considering invasive surgery.

What are the most effective treatment options for chronic pain?

Stress, anxiety, depression, catastrophizing, ruminating, lack of activity, and social withdrawal all make chronic pain worse. Addressing these issues, research shows, can help people gain control over their pain symptoms. Therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, biofeedback, and mindfulness-based stress reduction, along with greater pain-management education, have been found to help people reduce fear and disability.

Are there new treatments for chronic pain?

Many cases of chronic pain, particularly those involving back pain, remain medically unexplained. But there is evidence that changes in the brain or nervous system are caused by previous physical ailments such as tissue damage; in such cases, the brain may continue to send out pain signals despite the physical cause having healed. To aid patients under these circumstances, a recently developed treatment known as pain reprocessing therapy (PRT) is designed to help the brain “unlearn” this response. A PRT practitioner helps individuals to reduce the “threat value” of their ongoing pain signals until they can reappraise them as less threatening and fear-inducing. They also help an individual to develop new emotional regulation skills.

How long does therapy for chronic pain take?

There is no set timeline for recovery from chronic pain, especially as there may be a range of physical and psychological causes for any individual’s discomfort, but most patients should expect to see a therapist for a number of weeks or months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions. Studies of pain reprocessing therapy found that many individuals’ experience of pain lessened in eight sessions over four weeks.
