I love working with clients (2-18) who have ADHD, Autism, Sensory Processing Disorders, and other forms of neurodivergence. I use play therapy to connect with them and help them learn about their brains, their emotions, and new, more comfortable ways of expressing themselves and meeting their needs. I also enjoy connecting with parents who feel alone in the unique challenges that come with parenting these children. It can be hard to feel like the challenges are respected and the positives appreciated.

I work with adolescents, adults, couples, and families to assist with a variety of stressors and issues such as, ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Substance Abuse, and Marital/Relational issues to name a few.
Navigating the various ebbs and flow of life can often leave us feeling like we are treading water to stay afloat. When we do not possess the tools or skills to adequately manage those feelings or life events negatively impacting us, it can often leave us feeling like we are drowning. Therapy provides you with the opportunity to equip yourself with those life saving tools and skills to effectively navigate and manage any obstacle or barrier you may experience, in a way that is personalized and tailored to meet your individual needs.

We often hear “high school is the best time of your life” or “My 20s were the BEST!” but what should you do when it isn’t? When it feels more difficult than fun, how can you deal? Life changes rapidly as we transition from adolescence to adulthood, and it can feel hard to keep up. School or work, extracurriculars, friends, and family can be difficult to balance. As you (or the young person in your life) navigate this time of life, I would be honored to walk alongside you in your journey.

I help clients get unstuck, overcome challenges, navigate difficult life transitions, achieve victory over addictive behaviors, and eliminate beliefs that distort their identity. You can gain control over emotional reactions. You can experience freedom from trauma responses. You can improve your relationships. You can learn to implement strategies and achieve goals. I became a counselor because of the freedom I received, and I want to help you experience the same freedom. This can be real for you, and I'd love to show you how you can get unstuck without more exhaustion or toxic wishful thinking. You can do this, and I can help you.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
