My experience includes helping clients with various mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, anger management, trauma, abuse, and self-esteem issues. I have also worked with several individuals regarding career choices and life goals. As a mental health professional, my goal is to provide an environment that allows individuals to grow, feel supported, and achieve personal and emotional balance.

I often hear that people think that therapy is telling a complete stranger their life story while that stranger just smiles and nods, a type of one-sided relationship. While I will be a stranger to you at first, I'm also a real person. I'm someone who wants to connect with you while helping you navigate the story of your life. Making the initial call to seek therapy can be scary at first, but therapy doesn't have to be feared or difficult. I want to help you enjoy the process of identifying your goals and seeking to create the life you want to live. This process will be unique to you because therapy with me isn't one size fits all.

I provide counseling services for children, adolescents, and adults in Houma, La. After graduating from my undergrad psychology program I invested several years working closely with the sheriff department and child protective services. I quickly realized I wanted to help on a deeper level than what I was able to do with the level of education I had. I decided to go back to school and received a masters degree in counseling. I am also a licensed counselor in Louisiana and Florida.

I've worked in many settings with individuals and families from varied backgrounds who were struggling with a variety of challenges such as depression, anxiety, stress, family problems, trauma, abuse, relationship difficulties and more. I have assisted clients involving career paths, parenting, self-esteem, coping skills, life-transitions, and every day issues.

In counseling, I utilize an integrative approach that combines reality therapy, person-centered, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). I have 14 years experience working with adults in a 12-step program. This experience has given me tools and knowledge that can help others achieve their goals. I also have over 3000 hours of experience working with children 6-18 on issues such as ADHD, behavior, emotional and mood problems, social difficulties, and adjustment issues. With both children and adults, I focus on the "here and now" and the issue at hand utilizing the strengths and abilities of my clients.

I focus on the counseling of individuals, couples, and families. Within this framework, I often work in the areas of dysfunctional families, and individuals who are struggling to manage aggressive, angry, depressive, and anxious behaviors. I am experienced in working with children, adolescents, and adults. A variety of issues are addressed throughout the counseling process: including, but not limited to, communication skills, anger management, suicidal ideation, and mood and anxiety disorders. Currently, I work as a LMHP with a community base health center, as well.

I provide individual and family counseling for children, teens, and adults for a wide range of mental health disorders such as, but not limited to, depression, anxiety, PTSD/Trauma, anger management, sexual abuse, self-harm, parenting Skills, grief, and ADHD.

"How does that make you feel?" is not my approach! In sessions with me, we can focus on new coping strategies and skills to replace old and problematic habits in your life. I enjoy working with teens, individual adults and couples using Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) techniques. We identify your deeply held values and then take solid behavioral steps towards getting closer to those values. Additionally, I do offer premarital counseling tailored to each couple.

I see children, teens and adults in my practice and host various self-awareness and improvement workshops throughout the year. In session, we deal with issues as serious as anxiety, depression, mental illness, addiction, and PTSD and as common as everyday stress and relationship issues. I was born and raised in South Louisiana and feel that I understand our unique cultural prospective on life and how to live it in the healthiest way. In addition, as a trained professional in Diversity Inclusion Equity and Belonging, I welcome individuals from all cultures, gender identity, sexual orientation, and faiths.

I see counseling as a collaborative and dynamic process in which the client and I come to understand and trust one another, work as a team to explore and define the present problem, situations, and concerns, develop future goals for an improved life, and work in a systematic fashion toward realizing those goals. I enjoy working with clients across the lifespan on various issues. I work from a systems or systematic approach, pulling a lot of insight from biological components affecting emotion, societal messages about gender norms, and family systems theory. I really enjoy working with individuals as well as couples and families.

I am currently accepting self-pay clients only. I charge a reduced fee based on a slide scale.
