The person centered approach works well at the outset of a counseling relationship and once the challenges are identified, a different approach such as CBT or narrative therapy may be more effective.
Many of us have emotions and experiences which chip away at our confidence and the ability to make positive decisions. Those who want to understand those motivations and change them will reach for help. It's not a counselor's job to tell a client what to do. The goal is to help you understand how your experiences affect your emotional health and help you create coping skills to extinguish the negative behaviors which are holding you back. I offer online appointments with HIPAA compliant videoconferencing platforms to protect your privacy.

I use techniques from CBT, ACT, and Narrative therapy (aka one therapeutic size does not fit all) along with a lot of psychoeducation.
Therapy is a lot like cutting an onion - it has many layers, and usually makes you cry." What else can I say about therapy that you haven't heard before? So let me tell you about me, which is why you are here - to see if we are a good fit, right? I specialize in impulse disorders such as ADHD, OCD, Autism and PTSD/trauma, which of course all include anxiety and depression. I've worked in every corner of the field from criminal justice to homeless outreach to in-home services. I also love animals (especially my 5 at home), crafting ALL the things, referencing stand-up comedy, and being a proud member of every sci-fi fandom there is.

I have the knowledge, wisdom, experience and professionalism to help you with your problems. Ask yourself what will it take to lessen the pain you are experiencing. I can help! Now, ask yourself what makes you feel alive, content and happy? Recognize that working together we can change your desires into realities. I approach psycho-therapeutic counseling in a holistic fashion. I have great successes in assisting patients to cope with anxiety and depression, the traumas of abuse, teen-age cutters, divorce, death/loss, self-injury and debilitating physical injuries. My style of psychotherapy is more than just emotional support.

As a hard working individual, stressed out and anxious have become your new normal. Every morning, you put on a brave face and smile as you step onto the corporate battle field. There are times that you fly off the handle over the simplest things, and yet can't explain why something so small would get you so bent out of shape. Day by day, the irritation seems to be tightening its grasp. You find yourself losing sleep, wondering if you left any tasks undone. It's becoming impossible to enjoy the activities you love because you are such a tightly wound ball of nerves. Work-life balance is starting to sound like a fairy tale.

I work with a variety of clients and am committed to each one equally. My focus is on the overall mental wellness of individuals according to each’s own unique needs; I am well-versed in theoretical orientations and multiculturalism. I engage with clients based on their individual needs, as each case is just as unique as the client(s). I work with the client(s) from their perspective and help them work towards their chosen goals. I navigate the client to achieve smaller, accomplishable goals that then create a building block for larger, more obtainable long-term goals while giving the client autonomy to enhance self-growth.

Do others think you have it all together? But you don’t feel that way? Are you struggling trying to keep it all together? If you are reading this, congratulations! I know it takes a lot of courage to consider counseling...to choose you. You have taken the first step to reauthoring your story. Hi, I’m Stacy, a LPC. I believe therapy should focus on the individual including life transitions, and roles in their family as they read, edit, and write their book of life. My goal is to collaborate with you on your healing journey to help you achieve your goals through encouragement and empowerment as you edit and rewrite your narrative.

Are you feeling stuck? Do you suspect life has more to offer than your current experience? What is the story you tell yourself about your situation? I believe that our stories have the ability to keep us stuck or set us free. I use narrative therapy and the power of storytelling to help individuals heal their past, come to terms with their present, and create a future they desire. As a therapist, I thrive on helping people recognize, and act on their own potential. Wellness involves the whole person, and I believe the mind, body, spirit, and emotions are all connected.

I use narrative therapy and mindfulness practices to support my work.
I partner with clients- building a safe, open space where they can be themselves. My specialties are Grief, Trauma, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). When exploring loss, we honor your healing. Your grief journey is unique- just like the person, experience, or dream you've lost. We process in a way that speaks to you, at a pace that works for you. There's no "right" way to grieve. In CBT work, YOU hold the power to shift your perspectives, emotions, and behaviors. Do you have a goal but can't seem to reach it? Let's figure out those roadblocks and tackle em!

Greetings! Everyone faces adversity in life. The good news is that I can support as you navigate through grief, life transitions, and trauma. I would like to work with you as you learn how to display the overcomer that has been buried under the many stressors of life. In Louisiana, we have survived hurricanes and recovery/rebuilding, the effects of the pandemic, and so much more. These experiences teach you how strong and resilient you are yet it can be hard to maintain healthy thoughts, habits and emotions. Daily responsibilities can overwhelm you when there is so much to juggle.

I work with clients around issues of sexual dysfunction, pain, and low desire. I also specialize in working with marginalized sexualities and relationships, such as non-monogamy, kink, and LGBTQIA+. Sexuality is an integral part of who we are as human beings. It can be one of the greatest sources for pleasure and connection. However, that pleasure and connection can be blocked by things like shame, fear, grief, health issues, pain, and loss. I believe therapy can help clients create positive changes while building healthy narratives around intimacy, relationships, and gender.

Narrative Therapists

Is narrative therapy evidence-based?

Narrative therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy. Some small studies do show that depressed and anxious individuals who were treated with narrative therapy reported improvement in anxiety and depression symptoms.

How long does narrative therapy last?

Narrative therapy is less structured when compared with psychoanalysis, for example. Narrative therapy is more open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a few months, and sometimes a year or longer. Patients see their therapist one to two times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a person’s challenges and progress. Individuals can also practice the principles of narrative therapy after treatment has ended.

Does narrative therapy work?

Narrative therapy can help a person manage or reduce symptoms of conditions like depression or anxiety. This type of therapy encourages a person to reflect on the moments of their life when their particular problem was not at the forefront of their minds—perhaps life celebrations, achievements, and other successes. The individual is encouraged to rewrite their storyline as if their particular problem was not part of their life. This therapy may offer benefits that are hard to measure.

What are the possible limitations of narrative therapy?

Narrative therapy is person-centered or client-centered, and the health professional pays more attention to the subjective narratives that are constructed by the client, as opposed to other objective measures. The therapist privileges the individual’s perspective over all others. This open form may feel frustrating for individuals seeking a more structured approach; certainly, no one therapy type will work for every individual.
