I have the knowledge, wisdom, experience and professionalism to help you with your problems. Ask yourself what will it take to lessen the pain you are experiencing. I can help! Now, ask yourself what makes you feel alive, content and happy? Recognize that working together we can change your desires into realities. I approach psycho-therapeutic counseling in a holistic fashion. I have great successes in assisting patients to cope with anxiety and depression, the traumas of abuse, teen-age cutters, divorce, death/loss, self-injury and debilitating physical injuries. My style of psychotherapy is more than just emotional support.

I believe that the counseling process is a journey between the therapist and client where we collectively develop a treatment plan to address areas of concern. Although each person may enter therapy for different reasons, my intent is to identify and work toward goals of the client becoming a happy, healthier and well adjusted being.

How you see yourself might be deeply influenced by the emotional distress, negative thought patterns, or destructive and addictive behaviors you struggle with. As a Holistic Health Practitioner, I believe these conditions cover up, rather than define, who you truly are. My unique approach to holistic health and wellness encourages a balanced integration of the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual aspects of your wellbeing. I'd like to support you in creating optimal conditions for the safe, mindful, and deep exploration of your innate capacity for self-healing and radical transformation.

My treatment approach is to help clients gain insight and increase awareness in those areas of their lives that most need attention. Clients learn to identify the unconscious forces holding them back from being all that they are intended to be and to challenge and eventually replace the self-destructive beliefs and messages that have guided their thoughts, feelings and behavior. I help clients find solutions to a wide range of life challenges and psychological issues.

I specialize in treating eating disorders and work closely with a team which includes a nutritionist and your doctor.
Many people feel disconnected, floating through life looking okay on the outside while suffering silently inside. This masked lifestyle causes great distress on the mind, body, and spirit resulting in varying symptoms such as depression, isolation, anxiety, disordered eating, relationship issues, body image disturbance, health problems...etc. Psychotherapy can be a place to help people achieve their life goals, make life changes, move through difficult transitions or better understand ongoing relational concerns. Offering a compassionate and collaborative environment, I can help you develop coping strategies that promote acceptance, healing, and the creation of a more meaningful life.

My expertise encompasses substance use disorders, mental health disorders, recovery-oriented systems and plans, trauma, mindfulness, eating disorders, life transitions, and solution-focused skill development.
I use a mindfulness based approach combined with many therapeutic methods focusing on helping those achieve their own desired recovery pathway. Recovery can mean a lot: addiction, eating disorders, sex/porn, our PHONES, and much more. I want to help those seeking recovery, from whatever it is you are seeking recovery f, because YOU, we... We are all capable, some help from someone with some lived and professional experience might help, aka me? I am a proud person in recovery from many things, but most proudly in recovery from an OUD since 2015. If this seems appealing, I have some great ideas and would love to work with you.

I connect easily with folks who identify as neurodivergent, queer, expressive, eccentric, activist, artist or hospitality worker. You may have tried other forms of therapy and are seeking an alternative way to process trauma, gain a deeper understanding of self and your relationships. An openness and willingness to lean into the creative process is paramount for our work together, you don't have to be an artist to benefit. It is my hope to guide you toward a more embodied self through creative expression. My experience and training informs the way I guide you toward your own creative uncovering and self-exploration.

You won't find me stuffy, judgmental or condescending - life is hard enough; I'm on your side. However, I will challenge & support you to finally tackle the thorniest parts of your life. We’ll do this by going deep, not just rehashing. We’ll also work intimately together, finding ways to really and truly connect, & even sometimes have fun. I work best with scrappy & determined women who love making their own way, but sometimes get derailed by their own thoughts or bad relationships or family history. I also love working with men who want to understand life, but balk at traditional therapy - and like straight talk as much as support.

I am a Clinical Hypnotist & Reiki Master/Teacher. These modalities are a little bit different than traditional talk therapy. Prior to each session, I encourage an open dialogue. We will pinpoint your exact goals & needs and make a plan. I will also address any questions or concerns you may have before our actual session. Hypnosis is a targeted approach to create long lasting positive change. And Reiki (a form of energy healing) can help restore balance & heal the entire energetic system. My clients typically notice a desirable shift even after just one session.

Eating Disorders Therapists

What happens in therapy for eating disorders?

In therapy for eating disorders, patients typically describe their eating and exercise behaviors, their patterns of eating in relation to stress, their beliefs about their body, the ways their eating behavior affects their relationships, and their desire (or lack of it) to change. Such information helps the therapist understand the origins of the disorder and the role it plays in the patient’s life, important for guiding treatment. Attitudes and feelings about food and eating, body weight, and physical appearance are common topics of discussion throughout treatment.

What therapy types help with eating disorders?

Once any acute medical or psychiatric emergency is resolved, psychoactive medication is often prescribed, requiring the supervision of a psychiatrist. In addition, patients receive some form of nutritional counseling along with one or more forms of psychotherapy. For adolescents, family-based treatment is empirically validated and considered the first line of treatment; parents and their children meet weekly with a clinician as the adults are coached on how to nourish and psychologically support the young patient. Adults typically receive some form of individual psychotherapy, intended to resolve the cognitive and behavioral disturbances that underlie the disorder and to relieve the mood disturbances that accompany it. In addition, patients may also be helped by group therapy.

What is the goal of therapy for eating disorders?

The most immediate goal of treatment for eating disorders is to save the life of people who are on a path of starving themselves to death or engaging in eating patterns that are doing irreparable physical harm to their body. Once the acute medical danger is past, therapy is required to understand the nature of the disordered eating and/or exercise patterns, establish healthy eating behavior, and to tackle the many erroneous beliefs and distorted self-perceptions that underlie eating disorders and continue to pose a threat to health and life. Therapy also addresses the impaired mood that not only accompanies eating disorders but intensifies the danger to health and life.

What are the limitations of therapy for eating disorders?

Therapy can be very helpful for eating disorders—but that can happen only after people recognize they have a condition that must be treated. Especially with anorexia, the distortions in self-image that accompany the disorder can keep people from acknowledging they have a problem. Individuals may in fact see their eating disorder as a badge of self-control. Those with binge-eating disorder may feel too ashamed to seek help. Therapy cannot help those who do not avail themselves of it.

How long does therapy last for eating disorders?

Because of their complexity, recovery from eating disorders is usually a long-term process—measured in months and years— often marked by setbacks and relapse. Some form of help, such as individual or group therapy, may be advisable for much of that time. It is a general rule of thumb that the longer the illness has endured and the dysregulated eating behavior has taken root, the longer treatment is likely to be needed.
