I operate from a person-centered, trauma-focused, and attachment-based approach.
Hi I’m Lexi and I work with individuals and couples who are looking to grow to better understand themselves and their past in order to move forward. I offer counseling to individuals and couples from various socioeconomic backgrounds & military-connected men and women who are experiencing trauma, anger, or relational conflict. Reactions to traumatic events might feel like anger, depression, anxiety, or avoidance of feelings. If you are a client who is looking to move forward from past experienced childhood, sexual, physical, attachment-based, or military-related trauma, you're in the right place.

Do you ever find yourself feeling isolated in a bustling room, overwhelmed by the uncertainties of life? Struggling to navigate through the aftermath of traumatic experiences can be incredibly daunting. It's natural to desire strength, to face our battles head-on, and to keep moving forward. However, trauma often complicates this journey, especially in today's rapidly changing world. In these challenging times, questions like "What's wrong with me?" or "Why can't my loved ones accept me?" may weigh heavily on your mind. But remember, you're not alone. Seeking help, though daunting, is an act of courage worth celebrating.

I have experience working with individuals who struggle with depression, anxiety, family and relationships, trauma, communication, guilt, and shame.
I am passionate about working with those who suffer the effects of trauma, whether it be a one-time event, or many experiences that built up over time. My clients are brave enough to share their experiences with me, and in turn, I create a safe space for them to share in. We work together to understand and process what has happened in the past, what coping skills they have implemented to help them survive until now, and what we can do to best grow and move forward. My clients are the experts in their healing journey, but I will never leave them without the tools and support necessary to navigate that process.

My counseling style is attachment based, which means we look at what you learned by those who raised you, how you found comfort as a child, family dynamics, traumas experienced, how are these items impacting your life today and what does that look like?.
We all struggle throughout life and I was no exception. Acknowledging the struggle is a huge step towards success along with finding the right therapist. We only know what we were taught and how to react to situations from those who raised us. You deserve to be the best you possible and I am here to help you find that. Let me help you discover new ways to a happy and healthier life. I utilize an attachment framework derived from Emotionally Focused Therapy and Story Informed Trauma Therapy (SITT) to help my clients understand how they came to be who they are.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
