My philosophy in counseling is about building rapport, engaging the client, assisting with goal-setting, and encouraging ongoing work outside of sessions, to achieve maximum benefits. I believe that feeling expression, focusing on strengths and learning empowerment make the client successful. I will be with you every step of the way to work through any struggles that arise. My approach to therapy is best described with this analogy: We are on a road trip, you are driving, and I have the map. There are many routes we can take to reach our destination and we will work together to determine which route is best for your journey. The most important aspect of therapy, is feeling comfortable and safe with the therapist you have chosen to work with. I want to help individuals identify and understand the source of their pain or struggle and assist them in finding solutions that can restore their sense of joy, hopefulness, and peace.

Clients who want assistance with a specific concern, want to enhance their sense of self-understanding or their overall mental wellbeing. I provide a safe and confidential environment for my clients in Northwest Louisiana to openly share their inner-most thoughts, feelings, fears, desires and hopes. I encourage my clients to own their therapeutic process by fully participating in developing and implementing their therapy plan.

Clients of all ages beginning at age 4 thru adult enjoy the personal experience of working in a customized cognitive exercise program with a personal brain trainer to experience gains in cognitive function whether it has been lost due to dementia, TBI, learning disabilities, disease, cancer treatments or simply aging. Some clients attend our center weekly just for a tune up to stay sharp and focused. Whatever the need in cognitive function, we will customize a program for you or refer you to a valid resource in our community.

Trauma is a silent story within our bodies, shaping our relationships with ourselves and others. The decisions you make while navigating the depths of trauma are not failures but survival strategies. Just as one wouldn't criticize someone for struggling to swim through a storm, you cannot judge yourself for how you dealt with unhealed trauma. Healing involves healing these wounds from within. You are not broken. You are a perfectly functioning human being, reacting to traumatic experiences exactly how you need to survive. Together, we can work towards understanding and healing these wounds so you to move beyond just surviving.

I was inspired to get into therapy after seeing a counselor when I was around 20. In just one session, he helped me understand so much about my life that everything finally made sense! That transformative experience motivated me to help others in the same way.
