Are you sick and tired of being stuck and feeling pained because of trauma and past painful experiences? Are you not sure about your life story and what it really means to be you? Do you feel slighted, and minimized by others? Do you have few people who really understand where you are coming from? Trauma can bring and keep individuals down sometimes with and even without provocation. If you have not been helped by talk therapy then art therapy coupled with Advanced Integrative Therapy and/or addiction counseling may put you on the fast track to recovery.

I love working with adults seeking help to process a life event or past trauma. My clients seek help dealing with symptoms of anxiety, depression, burn out, irritability, physical issues like migraines or digestive problems, or just wondering why they respond the way they do. Most are coping with more feelings than usual, healing from a loss, and hope to feel like themselves again. Other clients may be aware of unhealed trauma from childhood that they now feel ready to process.

I enjoy working with clients with medical trauma.
My ideal client is focused on personal growth and healing. Many clients see the process of therapy as a one sided conversation with little opportunity to see others as real people. I am solution oriented while believing that therapy can be a challenging, changing, enjoyable process where clients can experience themselves in new ways. Therapy does not have to be painful. Calling a therapist can be intimidating. Please take a moment to do something for yourself to see how I can help. Often, I hear clients express how they are in fear of losing everything and want to change but don't know how.

Some of the areas you might want to explore in therapy with me are: intimacy, sex & sexuality, trauma, relationship conflicts, addiction recovery, stress, anxiety, life transitions & goals, low self esteem, communication issues, dream work and transformational growth.
Chances are you're struggling to understand some area of your life, feeling stuck, hoping for new possibilities and outcomes. Maybe now is the time to reevaluate what you really want out of life and to make some changes. Perhaps the situation that has you most frustrated is providing you with an opportunity to look deep within yourself at the person you most fully want to be. I believe therapy is a partnership in which my responsibility is to provide you a safe, nonjudgmental and supportive space where you can bring whatever issues you wish to explore.

Having worked with individuals and couples to develop strategies to cope with and manage the effects of a stressful career, address trauma, grief, infertility and adoption, Post-Partum Depression, and other mental health concerns, I know that reaching out can be hard.
Therapy should be a safe place for you to work on goals, gain skills to better deal with life challenges, and/or to take back your life from the effects of trauma, depression, or anxiety. I customize my style for each individual and use evidence-based interventions to help you reach your goals. We can work together to help you find understanding, and catalyze growth and healing. I worked in the corporate world for 10+ years, and understand the struggles of managing a team, proving your worth, and finding time and ways to care for your soul.

I have special training (EMDR) in working with trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, and relational issues.
Life often throws us lemons. It is my goal to aid you in placing those lemons into cute vases and use them as decor. We can’t turn things into something they’re not, but we can re-frame them and change their meaning. I will work with you to help them build on your strengths to identify and achieve your goals. Therapy should be a space where you can talk and gain insight into what’s going on in your life and how you want to proceed. In therapy I draw on styles and techniques that are the helpful for your individual situation, providing a space where you have the authority and ability to grow in the direction you choose.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
