Taking the first steps of exploration into suffering, challenging life circumstances, overwhelming emotions, and conflicts with others takes courage, and I acknowledge that you have taken this difficult first step. I have been working in the field for almost 20 years and I’ve learned that my greatest teachers are the people with whom I work. I will work with you to create a safe and collaborative relationship to explore whatever it is that brought you to therapy. One observation that I have made over my years doing therapy, is that the “sicker” people are, the less they play.
People who feel stuck struggle to shift their perspectives; cling to overused actions that are no longer serving them; and get mired in stories about themselves, others, and the world that keep them stuck. These challenges are an invitation for us to actively take steps to live the life we desire.
