I am a trained and proficient in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing ( EMDR), and other trauma modalities that will provide you the relief and healing many of my patients seek out.
I focus on trauma initially because what I have found in over 6 years of work as a trauma therapist, is that so much of our present concerns and limitations is rooted in trauma exposure and history. This lends itself to unhealthy patterns of avoidance, hypervigilance/hyperarousal, disturbance in mood and cognitions. and being inundated with intrusions and flashbacks. Many patients that have struggled with years with anxiety and or depressive episodes really have suffered from trauma that has not yet been dealt with. T Fields Trauma Therapy is for you if this describes you! Please also ask about a new service: Medication Management!

Every morning you feel "I can’t get out of bed”. It seems like too much right now. You peel yourself out of bed anyway, because you know you have to get going. You have to do all the “things” to make the world function for the humans in your life, but some days it feels like too much. You think this shouldn’t be this hard. I should know what to do and yet you still don’t make any change. You turn on the podcasts and the audiobooks, but no matter how many you listen to you just cannot get yourself to make lasting change. If you could just talk this out maybe it would have to feel so alone.

I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques in my approach, I am trained in eye movement desensitization and preprocessing ( EMDR) therapy, and I administer psychological assessments to aid in diagnosis of mental health disorders, such as ADHD.
My ideal client is someone who is interested in making changes, who understands that therapy is a collaborative process, and who is willing to work on themselves both inside and outside of the therapy office. They want to heal from something, learn healthy coping strategies, and embark upon a journey of self-love and self-improvement. The goal is to try to be better than you were yesterday, while learning to be kinder to yourself, understand yourself better, and feel better too. The goal is never to be perfect, but to break down old, unhelpful thinking patterns, resolve internal and external struggles, and grow as a person.

I am a certified eye movement desensitization and reprocessing ( EMDR) therapist with experience in combat and childhood trauma.
As a clinician, my primary focus is on creating and fostering an environment in which my clients can feel safe enough to process through the core issues that resulted in seeking out help. If you have a child aged 5-12 that is struggling with emotional or behavioral issues, I would love to help. Children do not always have the cognitive skills that adults use to express themselves, which is why I love using play therapy with the little ones to help them better process through their emotions without having to utilize their words. Since graduating from Troy University 3 years ago,

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
