I am currently offering both individual and group DBT.
I specialize in the treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy ( DBT). DBT is an evidence-based treatment that helps individuals learn to better manage thoughts, emotions and behaviors that cause problems in living. Examples of problems that DBT effectively treats include mood dysregulation, impulsivity, trouble with relationships, suicidal thoughts and self-harm. Although DBT was originally developed to treat BPD, it is also effective in treating depression, anxiety, PTSD and addiction.

Often in adulthood, we gain awareness of the maladaptive patterns and traumatizing experiences which have impacted us since childhood. The first step in post-traumatic growth is seeing that the patterns no longer benefit us, or recognizing that processing trauma can make life more meaningful. If you're here and seeking a guide for your post-trauma growth journey, connecting with a therapist may be the next step for you. When supported, you can connect to your own vision and self-power to create and accomplish your healing goals. Learn more at www.trailheadtherapist.com.

I love the authenticity of Jellyroll's song. Do these lyrics resonate? "I am not okay. I'm barely getting by. I'm losing track of days and losing sleep at night. I am not okay; I'm hanging on the rails. So if I say I'm fine, just know I learned to hide it well." My goal is to offer a laid-back, genuine atmosphere where you are free to be you, warts and all. Whether you are searching to enhance your overall mental well-being or finding it hard to make it through the day, there is hope. I applaud you for searching and encourage you to take the next step to find the support you need (with me or whoever feels right) Just don't stop!

I believe therapy is most helpful when it combines introspection and self-discovery with planning and action. My goal as a therapist is to assist my client in exploring the "stuff" that seems to be getting in the way in his or her life. Once we know what the roadblocks are, they become easier to navigate or overcome. This work often leads to new personal insights or changes that serve to bring you closer to your personal goals.

You've been going through it. The people who love you see it too. You just want to move on with your life & do this adulting thing, but don’t know how. It happens to us all at some point. Going to therapy is a huge step for yourself because you've felt tired of be tired long enough. For me, therapy goes best as a conversation between people as if over tea and maybe a soothing game of Mario Kart. If this sounds like you, it looks like you're ready for a chat. I’m looking forward to joining your journey.

Caring for ourselves is often our last priority, but we can't be our best selves without prioritizing our mental health. At my practice, my goal is to provide a space for you to express yourself, find your solutions, and create the life you want to live. We are all people who experience daily challenges. We all struggle from time to time. Whether it is with feelings of anxiety, depression, or trying to sort through past trauma, it can seem like an impossible mountain to climb. The good news: You don't have to do it alone.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
