I primarily use somatic, trauma-informed and attachment-based approaches to meet clients where they are and curate treatment to fit their diverse backgrounds and needs.
I am particularly passionate about working with adults, teens, and couples who are struggling with trauma, mood disorders, anxiety and relationship issues. I aim to guide individuals into overcoming internalized shame and guilt, embracing self-compassion, and finding their voice. As someone who felt like she didn’t have a voice growing up, I hope to provide the space for others to explore their own experiences and identities to ultimately find peace and authenticity. I have worked as a therapist for three years and have experience working with individuals and couples in multiple communities.

I have worked with adults and adolescents with anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders. I am open to helping anyone who seeks guidance, support and assistance. I am passionate about the ones that I serve. Having personal connections with substance abuse issues and struggles provides me with additional insight into the disease of addiction and the recovery lifestyle. I would be honored for the opportunity to assist you in making a positive difference in your life. I would describe myself as down to earth, I meet clients where they are at and create a relaxed environment that anyone would be comfortable in.

I'm always amazed by the transforming power that a safe relationship can have on a client. Providing a compassionate, supportive, and nonjudgmental atmosphere enables a person to begin processing their story and face the hidden obstacles that keep them stuck in life. It is a privilege to walk alongside my clients, offering a new perspective as we explore their strengths, and find hope and new meaning in their story. As a therapist, my mission is to provide the healing space and collaborative relationship that helps a person begin to take the necessary steps to achieve their therapy goals.

I provide a safe environment for clients to process their issues. I believe that psychotherapy is more than talk therapy. I am excited about the new research and treatments that focus on mind and body (somatic memories). I have an integrative approach to therapy. I work best with complex trauma (emotional and physical, including childhood neglect) and resulting anxiety and depression. I work well with grief related issues (complicated grief) and problems that arise from chronic illnesses.

I believe in focusing not just on the individual client but the whole family in treatment, offering not only one on one child counseling, individual adolescent and adult counseling, but parenting and family sessions. At times individual sessions are the best approach due to the unique needs of the client, these being offered for children, adolescents and adults. With over 17 years of experience in counseling, I continue to greatly enjoy helping each individual take a step towards healing and the wholeness for which they were designed.

Life is a journey and sometimes we may need a little help along the way. On life's journey we may experience anxiety, depression, grief or trauma which me may lead us feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, fearful or angry. Sometime we may need someone to walk beside us on the journey to assist in overcoming and healing from life's ups and downs.

Perhaps you find yourself feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disappointed, or like life is just passing you by. Maybe your relationships feel dry and you're having trouble connecting with your loved ones. You might think to yourself, "That's it. I don't want to continue living like this. I want better for myself. I want to enjoy life again." Congratulations to you for embracing this first step toward change. You are brave for this, and I know we can continue to take steps forward together.

Life can be hard. Sometimes we can feel like we are falling into the same old patterns and asking ourselves the same unhelpful questions. This can be difficult because we often get stuck here rather than finding the growth and progress that we desire. As a therapist, my hope is to help you better understand this feeling of "stuckness” the various things which lead us to this space.

Does this sound like you…. You, and/or your partner have experienced roadblocks, frustrations, anxiety or trauma, and despite your best efforts, it still affects your day-to-day life and relationships. Maybe you find yourself stuck in a cycle of emotional pain, struggling with anxiety, relationship issues, or a persistent sense of unease that won’t go away, no matter what you try. You might be feeling disconnected from yourself or those around you, constantly replaying old wounds, or even avoiding situations that trigger painful memories. If you’re looking for lasting change—true, transformative healing—you’re in the right place.

Attachment-based Therapists

Is attachment-based therapy the same as attachment therapy?

Attachment-based therapy may be confused with what is called “attachment therapy” (sometimes called “holding therapy”), a discredited and dangerous approach to treating children with attachment disorders, autism, or other mental health concerns. Attachment therapy—not attachment-based therapy—may involve restraining a child, forcing eye contact, and other coercive or abusive techniques. None of these practices are used in attachment-based therapy and the two modalities are in no way related.

What should I expect from attachment-based therapy?

Attachment-based therapy is based on attachment theory, which posits that children’s early relationships with their caregivers strongly influence their ability to navigate the world later in life. Thus, adults who seek attachment-based therapy should expect to deeply explore their childhood, identifying the dynamics or experiences that disrupted their attachment and the steps necessary to overcome challenges that arose as a result. Parents and children should expect to explore the possible factors that disrupted the parent-child relationship and work toward restoring trust and connection.

How long does attachment-based therapy last?

Certain forms of attachment-based therapy, especially those designed for parents and children, last for a set number of sessions; for example, Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-Up, a specific attachment-based approach for young children who have undergone early adversity, unfolds over 10 one-hour sessions. When attachment-based therapy is practiced on adults or combined with other modalities, it may not last a specific length of time; clients may wish to ask prospective therapists how long they expect treatment to take.

Does attachment-based therapy work?

Most of the research on attachment-based therapy focuses on children and adolescents. Some of this research shows a positive effect, especially for attachment-based family therapy (ABFT). Other studies, however, have found that attachment-based therapy is no more effective than other approaches to childhood depression, anxiety, or suicidality. Less is known about the therapy’s efficacy on adult populations.
