I am a clinical psychologist in Louisville, KY. Educated at Vanderbilt and Colorado, I'm trained with marriage therapy and chemical, sex, work/money addictions. A pro-marital Christian, I'm pro-recovery and proactive. I'm homework intensive using workbooks, community support, and my user-friendly blog and podcast on my secure website. Personally trained by Drs. Patrick Carnes and John Gottman, I am internationally certified to counsel sex addicts and their partners. I work with a variety of clients who are dealing with relational dysfunction and/or problematic sexual behavior. I assist my clients in learning a new language and using practical tools to better understand how to deal with unwanted sexual desires, thoughts, attitudes, and behavior. I seek to help clients achieve and maintain sobriety, do the deeper work of recovery, rebuild trust, and reintegrate into broken relationships.

I have been in private practice for 20 years & clinical practice for 33 years. My clients are individuals, couples and older teens seeking personal growth from issues stemming from trauma, sex addiction and substance abuse. Those I treat are often also dealing with depression and anxiety, and I have extensive experience with law enforcement and PTSD and those healing from childhood trauma as well. I am level I certified in EMDR and incorporate multiple modalities into my work. I particularly enjoy working with adolescent and young adult males who are struggling with "failure to launch" issues as they make the transition to becoming responsible adults. I’ve helped clients from varied backgrounds deal with depression, anxiety, substance issues and the negative impact of recent and past trauma. I also help clients manage stress, life transitions and difficult decisions. I work with clients of all genders, sexual orientations and spiritual outlooks. My personal experience as a husband and father, along with my prior career in business, helps many male clients, who might be leery of therapy, feel welcome and understood.
