As a certified EMDR and complex trauma therapist, I help adults, couples, and adolescents address the core of their issues to resolve high-stress symptoms including anger, insomnia, depression, anxiety, grief, intrusive memories, substance misuse, suicidal thoughts, and relationship distress.
Is stress, burnout, anxiety, anger, depression, or substance misuse impacting your daily life and affecting your relationships? Therapy should be a proactive process that empowers you to experience results instead of just talking about it over and over again. I specialize in helping you take back control by addressing high-performance stress & environments, burnout, and traumatic events that disrupt your life. Many of my clients lead during emergencies and never thought that they’d be looking for help themselves including military service members, veterans, first responders, medical professionals, and their family members.

Has everything just felt overwhelming lately? Do you lay awake at night trying to "turn your brain off" but you just can't seem to do it? Or maybe you’ve been through something so awful, that you spend more days than most reliving it in your mind over and over again? As a mental health professional, I have spent a significant amount of time learning how to combat the thought patterns, and behaviors that leave us feeling trapped in our own minds. Whether its anxiety/depression, trauma, grief or something else entirely, I am here to help you overcome whatever is keeping you from living the life you want to live.

I have been trained in the following modalities: Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, play therapy, and nature therapy.
I believe we all have the ability to guide the direction of our life towards a more genuine and authentic path no matter what we’ve experienced in the past. This new path can feel uncomfortable and uncertain and having someone there to walk alongside you can help make these steps feel more safe and secure. My experience is working with children through adults in their process of healing and growth.

I offer CBT TF and EMDR therapy to help with traumatic life events.
C.S.Lewis once said, " You can't go back and change the beginning but you can start where you are and change the ending". I believe that you must meet the client where they are currently. To provide a safe environment to alleviate crises, identify current needs, process past issues/traumas, and identify future goals for self. Also, to help clients learn to change negative behaviors/habits, to identify their own strengths, and develop positive coping skills in order to improve their quality of life. I believe your past does not have to define you but you can use it to propel yourself forward into the future that you hope to have.

I believe that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, so I am trained in various evidence-based modalities: EMDR, CBT, CPT, DBT, ACT, and Motivational Interviewing.
Therapy can be weird. It can be uncomfortable to open up to a stranger about your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Therapy can also be a space for you to allow yourself to be fully known, fully valued, and more clearly understood. I believe one of the bravest things a person can do is begin to understand their story. I am dedicated to helping people unhook from unhelpful cycles of thinking and behaving by collaboratively exploring and seeking to understand how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors can influence one another.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
