I specialize in anxiety, depression, and trauma.
Every morning you feel "I can’t get out of bed”. It seems like too much right now. You peel yourself out of bed anyway, because you know you have to get going. You have to do all the “things” to make the world function for the humans in your life, but some days it feels like too much. You think this shouldn’t be this hard. I should know what to do and yet you still don’t make any change. You turn on the podcasts and the audiobooks, but no matter how many you listen to you just cannot get yourself to make lasting change. If you could just talk this out maybe it would have to feel so alone.

Waitlist for new clients
My past clients have included couples, individuals, groups, those surviving an addiction, living with anxiety and/or depression, navigating a relational conflict, grief, sexual identity, trauma, and those seeking a safe space to understand themselves and where they fit into all of this.
The burdens of life are many and unique to each one of us. When these burdens give little space for our true selves to lead, disrupting the awareness of one’s own brilliance and the beauty around them, counseling makes so much sense.

Some common matters I can help with: substance misuse, grief, trauma, interpersonal conflict, mood disorders, and personal improvement.
When I meet a new client, I like to acknowledge that therapy is a courageous choice. Our first meeting is a time for me to learn why you reached out and what kind of change you are seeking. It is also a time for you to learn how you feel about me! If you return, then ongoing therapy sessions will consist of evidence-based practices that are specific to your goals and needs. We will measure and record your progress, so that you can make informed decisions about what works for you. Some people remain in therapy indefinitely because they like the ongoing support, while others exit after succeeding toward a specific, time-limited goal.

I use trauma-focused interventions and am EMDR trained.
Are you feeling overwhelmed by the expectations of personal or professional roles? Do you find yourself numbing, hiding or avoiding feelings or painful/uncomfortable situations? Maybe, you have a family member caught in destructive patterns and it's impacting your life? I'd love to help you change unhealthy habits, transform your thoughts, and reconnect with your true self. Together, we can work to replace pain with self-love, change unhealthy patterns, and find healthy ways to deal with life's stressors. I have a strong background in behavior modification strategies, sustaining change, mental health-related issues, and addictions.

Beginning something new can be a challenge. My clients have often tried everything and are excited to find newer approaches to their problems when everything else has failed. I am especially excited to work with individuals who have faced adversity and are committed to their own resiliency. I look forward to thinking outside the box to find a individualized compassionate approach to face problems head on.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
