Hello, My name is Jana Wilson. I am Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) licensed in the state of Kentucky by the National Board of Professional Counselors to provide mental health counseling. I graduated from Mid-Continent University receiving a B.A. in Missions and Evangelism. I obtained my M.Ed., in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Murray State University, Ky. I have over 9 years of experience and extensive training in treating adolescent and adult behavior concerns. As well as, 4.5 years training and experience in suicide crisis prevention and intervention.

I enjoy working with children, teens, and their families to achieve their goals through supporting healthier and happier relationships. Clients often tell me that our work has helped them to sort through their thoughts and feelings to gain clarity, to grow, to learn about themselves, to develop confidence, and to feel empowered to make important decisions. I employ a flexible approach tailored to the needs of each client. I use an eclectic approach to therapy, guided by the needs of the client. When trust is established, change happens.

I work with people that are going through lifes hardships including but not limited to, trauma, childhood abuse, depression, marital conflict, anxiety, and general relationship problems. I believe that each person has the ability to heal and find the answers they are looking for. I am honored when clients allow me to walk with them on that journey. I do my best to provide a compassionate and caring atmosphere for each client.

My approach to therapy is to meet the individual where they are. I support the client by empowering them in every stage of counseling utilizing a variety of modalities. I am a strong believer that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is the biggest contributor to client success. Therefore I work very hard to create a safe, non-judgemental environment with unconditional positive regard for my clients. I really enjoy helping individuals and couples cope and process with many issues and diagnosis. Most of my experience post-graduate has been working with trauma and severe mental illness. I am LGBTQ+ allied, gender-affirming, and kink and poly-friendly.

As a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), I have been practicing since 2009 with experience in mental and behavioral health counseling with adolescents and adults. I received my Bachelor's degree in Social Work from the University of Kentucky and my Master's degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I have training in a variety of counseling approaches to customize therapy to fit each client's individual needs, including Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.

Since entering private practice I have experience working with adults regarding parenting, life adjustments, relationship issues, depression, anxiety, grief, OCD, and crisis. I work with adolescents and adults.
