Are you tired of feeling stressed and anxious, saying “yes” when you mean “no,” snapping at those you love most, overwhelmed by caregiving and professional roles? Therapy can offer a new perspective to manage these challenges. In our modern lives full of competing demands, imagine being able to hit the pause button and find calm. With skills of mindfulness, you can focus and take action in ways that reflect what you value most. Anxiety and perfectionism are not the boss of you. You are capable of finding deeper connection, greater purpose, and inner peace.

Life is messy, unpredictable, and challenging. At times, the struggles of today are complicated by the worries of the future or hardships of the past. Other times, we feel like our own inner-critic prevents growth and progress. I can help you break down barriers that are holding you back from enjoying the beauty in your life and finding inner peace. I truly believe we all have the capacity to change, heal, and grow. I feel passionately about helping individuals become the best and most authentic versions of themselves. Change is hard and it's also possible!

My goal is to help individuals and families strengthen their ability to recover from life stressors and events in order to become more resilient to future challenges. Hey there! I could tell you how much I love to be in nature, drink coffee, and play with my dogs, and while those things are wholeheartedly true, they don’t tell you anything about who I am as a human or as a therapist. I’m not a “rainbows and unicorns” person. I don’t believe in spending money, time, and energy for me to tell you what you want to hear. I’m not fancy or quiet or scared to tell you what I’m thinking. I’m a real human whose been through real shit.

I'm not your typical therapist. Why? Well, because I too am on this ADHD rollercoaster . Yup, that's right—I'm not just the guide; I'm on the ride with you! Sometimes, it's like juggling Jell-O, but I've learned to turn that chaos into my own kind of masterpiece. I'm all too familiar with those days when focus is just a mythical creature, and impulse control takes a vacation. But hey, isn't that the beauty of it? I've been there, and I'm still here, thriving. Navigating life with ADHD is like trying to play Jenga blindfolded. The struggles are real—procrastination, time blindness, the paralysis, and oh the (dis)organization!

You’re exhausted, and it’s time to find rest and peace. You may be feeling anxious, angry, overwhelmed, or alone. You desire connection in close relationships, but intense feelings often create division. You feel stressed or triggered at times, and you’re not sure why. Quiet peacefulness is what you long for—calm, steady relationships that heal instead of hurt.

Here you are, looking for some help-so well done, you! Sometimes part of us wants help and another part wants to "do it on our own". Therefore, it is understandable that it might be no small task to make that first call. AND since sorting thoughts, feelings, and worries can feel overwhelming, I appreciate your courage and wisdom in seeking professional assistance, because no one has to do this alone. Getting to "better" is often very collaborative. Together, we can find a healthy and safe way to discover, sort and map the confusion/worry and then move forward. When you are ready, please give me a call. I am right here.

Each one of us have our own life story. In this story there could be pain, hurt, regret and happiness. As a therapist for over 30 years I have heard many stories of people at different life stages. As your therapist, I want to learn your past and present story to hear where you have been and then help you write your next chapter for a healthy future. This is done by setting goals to know where you are headed. I would love the opportunity to help you write a best selling novel of your life.

I'm a Licensed Psychologist specializing in the treatment of children and families with an extensive background in child, adolescent and adult behavioral therapy and diagnosis. I believe the road to change is entirely personal; everyone travels their own path, at their own pace. Because despite similarities in experience, every individual has challenges unique to them. Together, within an empowering environment, we can find solutions to alter behaviors, explore meaning, improve moods and build relationships.

Most of my patients describe sessions with me as "effective." Yes, I'll sit and listen, empathize, and you'll know I genuinely care about you and your life. But you'll also probably hear things from me that others may not be willing to tell you. Why? Because I want to see you live the life you are capable of and unlocking many of those interactions helps with that process! I generally use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy along with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. They are both great types of therapy that focus on behavioral strategies for change after examination of your thinking.

My focus is to help people move through and overcome whatever obstacles are keeping them from experiencing a quality, fulfilling life. I work with a range of individuals and issues with either one person individually, or with a couple or family relationship. I have specialized training and education in treating ADHD in children and adults, in prenatal and postpartum mood and anxiety disorders, substance abuse, and trauma. I utilize a type of therapy called Somatic Experiencing to heal trauma which aims to restore the individual's nervous system to a less reactive state.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
