I specialize in psychological assessment, including assessment of attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and learning disabilities, such as dyslexia, problems with math, and problems with writing. I provide autism evaluations, as well as assessments for many other types of behavioral and emotional concerns. I also specialize in evaluations to assess for giftedness and am involved with a variety of gifted groups. I conduct testing necessary for private school admissions and for accommodations on standardized tests (SAT, ACT, LSAT, etc) and in higher education settings. I enjoy working with a variety of different folks from varied background, and with a wide range of concerns. This might mean that you are ready to look at something that has been around for a while or it might be a new difficulty in your life. Clients should be ready to work and to lean into what can be a challenging process. Change is hard and it often takes more than the 1 hour a week we meet to see the changes you want in your life. Therapy does not offer a quick fix, but together we can often make big changes in relatively short amount of time. Additionally, I enjoy incorporating assessment and trauma sensitive yoga in my work.

The most important predictor of successful psychotherapy is the relationship between therapy and client. Nothing else comes close. If we have a good fit, then this allows us to work effectively. If I can provide an environment in which you feel comfortable and have confidence, then you are more likely to examine your issues critically to determine what you need. Couples tend to be the relationship dynamic most likely to seek out therapy, but all relationships are important. Relationships I work with include, but are not limited to: marital, intimate partner, co-parent, sibling, friend, and workplace relationships. We tend to find ourselves repeating old patterns of attachment and communication created during formative years. This can lead to feeling stuck, frustrated, and disconnected. While two people are required to create a pattern in a relationship, one person can often effectively change the dynamic through learning new skills, setting healthy boundaries, and improving communication.
