I think "moving on” from life's challenges isn’t easy; it doesn’t matter what actually happened/happening... getting over whatever is going on in your life is just hard. I think “moving on” actually means you have to move “through” & I provide a safe space for that to happen. I’m an experienced therapist who believes some topics deserve a deep dive & others are better tackled with solution-focused coaching. Over the years, I’ve helped people cope, heal, recover & basically “move on” from the hard stuff.

I believe that you can find hope in a lot places. You can see it in a str anger's smile, feel it in a parent's embrace, or hear it in the sweet sound of an old hymn. More than any other place, I believe we look for hope in our relationships. Unfortunately, the reality for most of us is that our relationships are where we find our greatest pain. Whether we have been hurt or maybe we have done the hurting, the pain of disconnection, rejection and abandonment leave their mark on our lives.

With individuals this often means working on issues with depression, anxiety, anger issues or PTSD.
I believe that there are times in our lives when we need someone to help us navigate through painful and confusing situations we all encounter in life. Many times root causes can be found in both our past, as well as present circumstances. As a Christian counselor, I incorporate faith in the healing process. Also, having a strong alliance with someone who can empathize with our situation provides the necessary support needed to carry out lasting change. It is my desire to help you get unstuck, and assist you on your journey of emotional healing

As a licensed professional counselor specializing in dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and mindfulness, I have had the honor of helping both adults and children navigate various concerns including depression, anxiety, anger management, self-esteem concerns, conflicts with family and peers, couples issues, personality disorders, trauma (PTSD), and grief.
We are all unique, multidimensional puzzle pieces trying to find where we fit. As such, we all have countless ways to define ourselves. However you choose to define yourself, I am here to help you throughout your journey. I know what it means to find everyday to be an uphill struggle, as my own journey had me move from my home in South Korea and endeavor to adapt to a new life in Kansas City. I have experienced the friction of adjusting to a new environment and the feeling of not belonging. I have also discovered for myself how to thrive in such an environment, and would like to help you learn how to thrive in your own environment.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
